Another not-easy theme, another last-minute result, and therefore a pretty late upload for today's theme. I knew from the start what I wanted to do but to get there... It's basically a redo of a keyhole photo I had taken for another MM theme ("Safety" from February '21; it's in the first comment). The lock and its keyhole are different, too, because I didn't want to photograph the same thing twice. It's a tiny TSA travel lock that I might put on my photo rucksack. There's a ring around the keyhole, and the lettering on the keyhole says "JYL" and "802" and on the ring below the keyhole, it's "TSA 007" (subtle...).
That lint was already inside this newly bought, freshly unpacked lock was almost an insult. So I did only minor dedusting in post and left that cheeky fluff in the image, especially because stacking had also rendered it so nicely sharp and clear. So my new motto for macro photos is "Embrace the lint!".
Since I wanted to get the keyhole's interior sharp and bright, I had to point the lamp right at the keyhole which inevitably caused the outside of the lock to be blown out, creating unpleasant-looking yellowish tones on its matte aluminium surface. Only when I decided to go fully high-key and actually use the bright light as an effect in the image, it finally worked. This is another bracketing image, not in-camera focus stacking because the latter didn't get deep enough. As usual, I combined the ORFs in Helicon Focus, method B, R8, S4 yielded the best results.

After repeated days of torrential rain, the sun breaks out just before is sets on a field groaning to contain it's swollen creek.
- Captured in a series of three consecutive shots at varying exposures (EV -2,0,2) using Jag.gr's PureShot camera replacement app for Apple's iPhone 6.
- Imported the three images to Adobe Lightroom to apply lens corrections.
- Edited the three images in Nik Software Define 2 to remove noise and artifcts.
- Imported into EasyHDR to combine the three images of various exposures.
- Imported HDR image into Adobe Lightroom for some final lighting adjustments and cropping.

This is total nonsense, I know ;) It's my "eternal calendar dog" of which you have already seen the calender cubes (please check the first comment). Once again, what I wanted to do for the theme didn't work out as planned, and this is my last-minute attempt. The setup was as simple as this photo is: Calendar dog placed on a yellow foam sheet (dull side), and it's a single, handheld shot in natural light. That's it. Calendar dog has a hole in its back in which you plug the calender cube holder (which I've removed for the photo). Processed in DXO and Analog Efex where I've added the white frame to enhance the comic look. Calendar dog's length is exactly 6 cm / 2,36 inches.

These yellow coneflowers (the high-growing variety) grow in the same spot every summer in a front garden around the corner. The "house" to which the front garden belongs is more of a hut, and the owner or tenant built a recording studio with padded walls in the two tiny rooms. The adjacent house, the one that is the background of this image, is very old and battered, and it's under heritage protection. I assume that the owner, an old gentleman, can't afford the renovation which must follow the strict guidelines required in heritage protection. So one thing is clear: a future owner will have to put a lot of money and work into the renovation of that house.
There's a busy bee on top of the tallest flower. I just so managed to catch it before it flew away in search of more delicious pollen of which there is plenty in the front gardens.
For Sliders Sunday, I gave this image the full (well, not quite, but you get the point) Nik Collection treatment, adding the texture in Analog Efex, and the other processing was done in Color Efex.

About the only way to photograph Durdle Door without people is to use a long time exposure...... But I kept the dog at the foot of the steps! Lee Big Stopper used here but it was a pain as three different colleges / schools groups marking out rocks and sections in the beach, there were hard hats in white blue and green buzzing around, I had hoped it would be quiet in a weekday - some hope. Will have to visit another time and try a late night shoot too.

This is not a Photoshop effect. The image was not altered in any way except for color and contrast adjustments that are always necessary since I shoot RAW.
Sunsets like this are commonplace, actually expected, almost every day in Ixtapa, Mexico.
Taken at the Colne Blues Festival, this black‑and‑white street photograph captures the authentic, unfiltered atmosphere of a live music venue. Framed through the open doorway of Mojo’s pub, the image blends foreground character and background action: a festival‑goer stands relaxed, while behind him a drummer keeps the rhythm flowing, posters and event signage lining the walls to tell the story of the weekend. Some fence and bokeh fun for Friday. Photo taken on a recent stroll around the corner to check out my "new-old" Lumix GX9 and my rediscovered OM System 20mm F1.4 lens.
The GX9 is another new, used acquisition (this time from MPB), a camera I considered buying back in 2018 when, for rational grounds (High-Res mode, splashproof, designated HDR button, etc., all of what the GX9 doesn't have), I got the Oly EM-5 Mark II instead but, strangely, never warmed up to the latter so I traded it in for the OM1 two years ago. Of my few outings so far with the GX9 I can say that the camera was instant fun. True, the electrical viewfinder is nothing to call home about but still nice to have, and it's a cool feature that it can be folded up. And the battery life... it shares the battery with the much smaller LX100 series, so it doesn't last that long but since I now also own both LX 100s (I and, since Easter, the Mark II) and I already had a couple of extra batteries for these, it's not a big deal.
With the huge hype about (and general unavailability of) the Fuji X100V and VI, cameras like the GX9 (and even the still older GX80/85), the Ricoh GRIII, the 8-year-old Pen-F and such are being extremely hyped up as well right now. So I'm glad I got a GX9 copy "as new". I'd have loved to get a Pen-F but the "as new" prices are almost the same as the original retail price of its release year 2016, and that's insane.
As for the 20mm F1.4 lens, the 40mm equivalent is a focal length I like very much. However, at first, I also didn't warm up to that lens, either. I thought it lacked in sharpness, and my copy suffers from extreme red (!) and turquoise-green chromatic aberrations which, however, can be dealt with in post even if it takes a few more slider tweaks than your regular aberrations. But I love the bubbly bokeh and the general rendering, and now, the first walk with the GX9 confirmed that the lens's sharpness is excellent. So it will see more camera time in the future.

Hier also ein neu zusammengesetztes Panorama des Meije-Massivs, das ich im Juli 2013 abbgelichtet habe. Heute erstellt mit PTGui, und insbesondere den Himmel mittels Photoshops Sky Replacement ersetzt. Das ganze schließlich in 30bit-Ansicht abgestimmt und mit NikCollections Silver Effex in schwarz weiß entwickelt . Fernweh :-)

New techniques always bring with them the opportunity to dig out old image material and edit it anew. So here is a newly composed panorama of the Meije massif that I photographed in July 2013. Today created with PTGui, and in particular replaced the sky with Photoshop's Sky Replacement. The whole thing was finally coordinated in 30bit view and developed in black and white with NikCollections Silver Effex. Wanderlust :-)

For Macro Monday's "Relaxation" theme. A really tough one ;-) Three short rubber bands in the moment of transition from being taut to returning to their relaxed state. I'm not really happy with this, and it is the third capture in a row for MMs that involves motion blur, but was even less happy with my other two ideas / shots, so here it is.
