Caught in the act, arrested, and found guilty of beguiling people worldwide into indulging in sweets: the (in)famous Goldbear®, gummy bear by nature, criminal mastermind by design. Interrogations brought his cunning methods to light: a particularly lulling chanting technique called the "Nom chant®". It turns people into totally submissive underlings, nom®ing away without reason until the bag is empty. At least the convict had the grace to duly blush in shame of his evil deeds when his mugshot was taken.
This photo is quite similar to my "Grumpy Rainbow Bear" image (please see the first comment) that I took back in October 2020 for our "Translucent" theme, a "face to face" front view setup. I had this one idea which I was so sure would work out that I didn't start shooting before Sunday evening. You know what's coming. It. Didn't. Work. The glass bear in this image is a giant (in comparison with its tiny edible brothers and sisters) shaped like the original Haribo gummy bear. I have no idea what deluded me into thinking that I could make the shapes of real gummy bears visible if I placed them behind the glass bear's head. The glass bear's head is not only 4 cm / 1, 57 inches wide (which gives you an idea about the size of the frame), but also 3,5 cm deep: much too thick to see anything behind it except colours.
So what next? One lucky thing in this failed setup was that I needed something to put the gummy bears on to bring them to the right height with the glass bear's head. And for that, I randomly used the semi-transparent yellow washing liquid bottle lid that I use as a colour filter for my LED lamps. And all of a sudden the Goldbear® appeared... I had placed two red gummy bears behind the glass bear's head which created a nice blushing effect which gave me the idea for the short crime story. A happy ending? In a way, yes, but I wish I would stop repeating the same mistake over and over again: starting too late with the MM shooting ;)

A slightly battered but still beautiful tulip I found in a front garden around the corner just the other day. When I took the photo, perched rather uncomfortably (and therefore quite wobbly) halfway under a shrub, I didn't even notice the tiny visitor on one of the petals because I was all concentrated on keeping the camera as still as possible. I slightly blew the photo up in Gigapixel AI so the visitor is better visible when you zoom in.
Taken on a first short photo stroll with my "new old" Lumix LX100 Mark II which I just bought used in very good condition (apparently no dust spots on the sensor, only minor signs of usage, but I haven't checked the shutter count, yet, because it's a little complicated) because the zoom motor on my old, beloved LX100 is getting quirky. The slightly better resolution of the Mark II's 21 MP sensor (of which the camera only uses 17 MP due to Panasonic's so-called "multi-aspect sensor" – why, Panasonic, why????) yields beautiful details and a sharp, crisp rendering even nicer than that of the predecessor. So far, I'm very happy with my first used camera purchase :)

This is a detail of a small soy sauce container shaped like a fish that I took along from a nice sushi restaurant years ago because it looked/looks so cute. These "soy-sauce snappers" or "shoyu-tai" were invented in Japan in the 1950s to replace glass or ceramic bottles. Apparently, one can still buy them everywhere (at the big river, the big bay, and at other online stores) by the hundreds, but one shouldn't, of course, because they are made of plastic, and, as we all know, throw-away, single-use items made of plastic are a huge problem for the oceans and other waters. Microplastic particles have even been found in crystal clear, actually clean, and very remote lakes, so it's high time to return to glass or ceramic bottles for takeaway dishes. I will keep my cute little soy sauce fish so it won't end up anywhere where it could impose danger to the very creature it represents.
Size info: The part of the soy sauce container visible in my image is 3 cm/1,18 inches. This is a single image processed only in DXO PL6 and Lightroom. The setup was super simple, too: With modeling clay, I "glued" the fish onto a small glass jar to get the right height and placed it in front of blue glitter foam sheet (dull side up). I illuminated the little scene witn an LED photo lamp (natural light) from above, a warm-light LED lamp from the left, and a handheld flashlight (set on "spot") from the right to highlight the eye. That's it.

Mein EF 24-105mm F/4L IS USM hat beim manuellen Fokussieren ein knarzendes Geräusch gemacht. Also habe ich ihm ein Rundum-Sorglos-Wohlfühl-Paket bei Canon verordnet.
Heute kam es wieder zurück. Gut sieht es aus! :-)
Tagsüber kam ich nicht dazu, es einem kurzen Funktionstest zu unterziehen. Also zeigte ich ihm zum Feierabend das, was es draußen zu sehen gab.

Maybe it's getting a little out of hand with the watches... Or, in this case, a watch part of a vintage pocket watch given to me by my Dad when I was about 14. It has long stopped working, and now, sadly, the minute hand has also come off. On the other hand, this allowed me to photograph the minute hand in a different setting other than on the watch face. The minute hand is a delicate, thin piece of brass, and I had to handle it with utmost care not to bend or even break it. So I thought I'd pair it with something equally soft and delicate, the white feather I've already used for a few MM themes.
High-key lent itself to this subject, and since I love the combination of white, gold, and blue, I once again used the blue glitter foam sheet (dull side up) as background. The scene was directly illuminated from above, and indirectly with two LEDs pointed at a small, gold-coated cardboard cake board that I use as a reflector.
In the first comment, you can see the pocket watch with all the hands still in place...

A somewhat harsh juxtaposition to the royal beauty, lush- and lightness of my previous photos from the palace and the castle garden in my Charlottenburg Palace series. But believe it or not, this 1970s or '80s brutalism-style apartment house (and similar houses) can be found directly next to the castle grounds.
In the 1970s/'80s, what one might call a huge aberration in urban planning was about to take place: old, still of good substance, buildings from the early 20th century and the late 1900s were supposed to be taken down and replaced by tenement blocks.
This happened in many parts of West Berlin, and it had nothing to do with the reconstruction programme of the 1950s and '60s where simple building complexes were raised to make up for the destruction of WWII.
In the 1970s and '80s, the apartments in these old pre-war houses were often of a lower standard, unrenovated, many with stove heating from huge tiled stoves, and some still with outside toilets on the half landing, shared with the other tenants. Don't get me wrong, in my childhood, I lived in all three types of buildings, then modern 1970s residential complexes in the outskirts of West Berlin, a 1960s reconstruction programme house, and a pre-war house with huge tiled stoves (but luckily with our own bathroom/toilet), and all of it was perfectly OK. But the plans of the 1970s/'80s were about destroying huge areas of grown building substance in the middle of the city, and they would have changed the typical "face" of Berlin forever (as can be seen in those areas where the abovementioned plans were realised).
Luckily, people were not taking it, and resistance against those plans formed, culminating in a squatting movement in the late 1970s and early 1980s. This saved many of these old, grown areas in many parts of the city.
To those of you who actually made it to this point: thank you for reading ;) Now for the technical part: My photo is a bracketing HDR made of three images merged in HDR Efex, and further slid in Color Efex Pro and LR. The LX100 Mark II's dynamic range is a noticeable step up from the Mark I and the raised Megapixel count also offers a welcome boost in detail and crispness.
And now, I also managed to read out the shutter count of my pre-owned new-old LX100II (I first practiced getting into the camera's service mode on my LX100I). It only had 155 releases, so it is indeed "as good as new", and on the two photo walks I've used it since purchasing it in April I've already added about 600 shutter releases. Such a great little camera :)

Image was captured with my D4 using a Lee Big Stopper to get the exposure down to two minutes.
