Thanks again for the visit, you're a stable bunch of Flickr-ites to keep riding back.

Comments are off as I didn't want anyone to have to be a neigh-sayer.

But please, be neigh-borly (or neigh-bourly for the Queen's horses) pardner, just saddle up,

giddy-up and trot off to comment and be herd elsewhere.

Q: What did one horse say to the other horse?

A: The pace is familiar but I can't remember the mane.

Sorry about all this - some of it is a real night-mare.

I couldn't harness much creativity nor corral my thoughts very well so I realize I came up quite lame.

Oh well, too late as I canter race what I've already ridden.

But I'm really glad you saw it now as it mare not be here furlong.

So hay pal, it's time I just bite the billet, rein myself in and bale out now.

So, as the Lone Ranger said: "Hi-yo Silver, away".

Which should not be confused with what those dopey dwarfs, except Dopey, said, "Hi-ho, Silver" or what the pirates always said "Yo-ho, Silver".

The morin khuur (Mongolian: морин хуур) or matouqin (Chinese: 馬頭琴) is a chordophone of Mongolian origin whose name roughly translates as "horse-head fiddle" in English. It is played with a bow and produces a sound which is poetically described as expansive and unrestrained, like a wild horse neighing, or like a breeze in the grasslands. It is the most important musical instrument of the Mongolian people, and is considered a symbol of the Mongolian nation.

The instrument consists of a wooden-framed sound box to which two strings are attached. It is held nearly upright with the sound box in the musician's lap or between the musician's legs. The strings are made from hairs from horses' tails, strung parallel, and run over a wooden bridge on the body up a long neck to the two tuning pegs in the scroll, which is always carved into the form of a horse's head.

The bow is loosely strung with horse hair coated with larch or cedarwood resin, and is held from underneath with the right hand. The underhand grip enables the hand to tighten the loose hair of the bow, allowing very fine control of the instrument's timbre.

The larger of the two strings (the "male" string) has 130 hairs from a stallion's tail, while the "female" string as 105 hairs from a mare's tail. Traditionally, the strings were tuned a fifth apart, though in modern music they are more often tuned a fourth apart. The strings are stopped either by pinching them in the joints of the index and middle fingers, or by pinching them between the nail of the little finger and the pad of the ring finger.

Traditionally, the frame would have been covered with camel, goat, or sheep skin, in which case a small opening would be left in back, but in modern times, an all-wood sound box is more common, in a style similar to European stringed instruments, including the carved f-holes.

Morin khuur vary in form depending on region. The Instruments from central Mongolia tend to have larger bodies and thus possess more volume than the smaller bodied instruments of Inner Mongolia. Morin khuurs (matouqin) built deeper in China also tend to be of poorer quality construction than their northern cousins. In Tuva the morin khuur is sometimes used in place of the igil.

The morin khuur is one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity identified by UNESCO.

Among the Chinese, the matouqin is one of several instruments in the huqin ("foreign instrument") family which also includes the erhu

Beautiful Arabian stallion. The barn roof in the background reminds me of an Egyptian pyramid.

this horse is so cool! Its got so many musical sounds when you press each of the ears. The only thing is she didn't know how to get on and off that horse. First time she tried, she landed on the floor.

Dear diary,

It has been more than a month since he looked at me now. Thirty-two days, eleven hours, and fifty-three minutes since I received even the slightest bit of attention. I have stumbled on blindly since, trying to find meaning in a life bereft of his asinus love - no, was it ever love? Maybe I just imagined there was something there, some appreciation or encouragement that I mistook for affection. Maybe I just became too caught up in the adulation, the fun, the midnight assignations, the back-and-forth, the up-and-down, the in-and-out, the times he almost loved me and did not. All those times he dropped me, only to bring me back into the herd a few days later. I should have known. He was only interested in the photos. Not me. And when something better came along? He threw himself at it, braying with glee at the droplets, the babies in baskets, the hanstands, the empty boxes, the out-of-focus or poorly-lit, the revealing sp, the single flowers with bubbling bokeh, the mandatory HDR of something or other that now looks unnatural.

So I'm done, donkeh. I shall not check for your love anymore. You take your explorabilities and front page tempationals elsewhere. Yes, I know you have already. Look, this is my moment, stop interrupting. No, I have no carrots. Shoo. Go nuzzle someone else with your cute little fuzzy nose. Look, over there! A bikini! Yeah, I knew it. Just watch you amble off with your tail flicking in anticipation. I have found other things to keep my happy. Rly I have. Others who appreciate me. The odd instfav here and there. It's enough. It is. Really. Honest. *whimper*

So diary, this is it. It's just me and you now. You're stuck with me. What? No! No, you can't leave too! Don't go! How will I be able to carry on wri

Lakota was a perfect gentleman during the entire shoot but when the other horses left the shoot to return to the farm, he plaintively called to them.

Day 219 - August = Brown.

I may well try a different shot on another day with some horses who aren't quite so friendly and eager to find out what I've got!

Follow me on facebook too

This horse and car are parked in the similiar manner a taxi car. This shot was taken in Killarney town. Notice that the horse has a nappy bag. There has been much contravesary regarding the use of these and only some of the jarveys are complying at the moment.

Another old photo. Filly calling Angela who happened to be with me eating a carrot. Filly doesn't like to go anywhere without her.

I found a lens, which I bought in 2010 and did not like on my Canon 5DMkII. I was not able to focus it with this camera's OVF neigher in AF nor in MF because it is too dark and does not resolve this extreme lens:

Sigma AF 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG HSM

With the bright Sony EVF and the MF loupe this is no longer a problem. Please check at highest res.

Here is a lens test, which is quite positive for this version 1 model, actually the new "art" progenitor has no better marks despite being 4 times as expensive:

Action figure toy representing the Lone Ranger's horse Silver, from the Disney live action movie The Lone Ranger (to be released on July 3, 2013 in the USA). First look. Photographed boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed.

He emits three separate sound effects when his head is pressed downward. First is a galloping sound, for about 10 seconds. Next is a heavy breathing sound, for about a second (reminded me of Darth Vader). Finally he neighs for a couple of seconds. Good volume, not too loud, but clearly audible. Since he stands on only three of his legs, one in the front and two in the back, it's a good idea to hold his back with one hand while pressing his head with the other, so he doesn't tip over. When he is free standing, he is quite stable.

The bridal, reins and saddle are all removable. His mane shed a few hairs when I combed it to make it neater, and I also trimmed a few hairs to make it more even. It is pure white, and quite soft. His body is a dirty white, with fine black speckles over white. The ankles are colored pink, over his dark gray hooves. He has black painted eyes, with pink areas over his muzzle, eyes and ears. I think he is very handsome, with a serious look. He appears to be of very solid construction. However, he has a major drawback of only being 10 1/2 inches tall, so he looks like a pony next to 12 inch male dolls, such as a Disney Prince or the Lone Ranger.

Purchased on May 23, 2013 from my local Disney Store. It was due to be put out on the shelves tomorrow (May 24), but I asked specifically for it, and the store manager brought it out from the back room and let me to buy it today. I also bought spare PNK dolls and the PNK trifold journal. Also some Disney Princes (John Smith, Prince Naveen, Li Shang), so I could complete my Disney Princess Movie Cast photoshoots. I was happy to be able to get a 15% discount on all the merchandise using my D23 card.

Goose Bumps And Love Thumps -

The passionate owls hooted in chorus and the hot to trot horses neigh all night. What do insects in the jungle say about coming into direct contact? “Rear collision rattles our dusty wings but it sure feels great to mate,” a pair of stink bugs in heat exclaimed. On the road to manufacture a hundred little ones, they bumped bruised with throbbing hearts. How beautiful humping moments are. Yellow and orange-red bugs, both deeply seated with mutual understanding and thumping feet. They are going to take a break and do it all over again until next morning.

Could not let the opportunity pass of shooting during this weather the sky and lighting looked perfect even though no sun was out.

Well this horse does appear to be giving me his best smile. Those teeth do not look too healthy, I wonder is this normal for horses? Ray Hogan is the bemused handler.

This horse is Ponemoath who won the Guinness Kerry National Steeplechase in 2007 and 2008. Prize money of about €160,000. Was beaten by Northern Alliance on this occasion.

Arthur’s Farewell (from The Idylls of the King: Guinevere)

By Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809–1892)

HE paused, and in the pause she crept an inch

Nearer, and laid her hands about his feet.

Far off a solitary trumpet blew.

Then waiting by the doors the warhorse neigh’d

As at a friend’s voice, and he spake again:

“Yet think not that I come to urge thy crimes,

I did not come to curse thee, Guinevere,

I, whose vast pity almost makes me die

To see thee, laying there thy golden head,

My pride in happier summers, at my feet.

The wrath which forced my thoughts on that fierce law,

The doom of treason and the flaming death,

(When first I learnt thee hidden here) is past.

The pang—which while I weigh’d thy heart with one

Too wholly true to dream untruth in thee,

Made my tears burn—is also past—in part.

And all is past, the sin is sinn’d, and I,

Lo! I forgive thee, as Eternal God

Forgives: do thou for thine own soul the rest.

But how to take last leave of all I loved?

O golden hair, with which I used to play

Not knowing! O imperial-moulded form,

And beauty such as never woman wore,

Until it came a kingdom’s curse with thee—

I cannot touch thy lips, they are not mine,

But Lancelot’s: nay, they never were the King’s.

I cannot take thy hand; that too is flesh,

And in the flesh thou hast sinn’d; and mine own flesh,

Here looking down on thine polluted, cries

‘I loathe thee:’ yet not less, O Guinevere,

For I was ever virgin save for thee,

My love thro’ flesh hath wrought into my life

So far, that my doom is, I love thee still.

Let no man dream but that I love thee still.

Perchance, and so thou purify thy soul,

And so thou lean on our fair father Christ,

Hereafter in that world where all are pure

We two may meet before high God, and thou

Wilt spring to me, and claim me thine, and know

I am thine husband—not a smaller soul,

Nor Lancelot, nor another. Leave me that,

I charge thee, my last hope. Now must I hence.

Thro’ the thick night I hear the trumpet blow:

They summon me their King to lead mine hosts

Far down to that great battle in the west,

Where I must strike against the man they call

My sister’s son—no kin of mine, who leagues

With Lords of the White Horse, heathen, and knights,

Traitors—and strike him dead, and meet myself

Death, or I know not what mysterious doom.

And thou remaining here wilt learn the event;

But hither shall I never come again,

Never lie by thy side; see thee no more—

Farewell!”

And while she grovell’d at his feet,

She felt the King’s breath wander o’er her neck,

And in the darkness o’er her fallen head,

Perceived the waving of his hands that blest.
