that orange blotch on the horse isn't some sort of magical icelandic light, it's a reflection off a spot where water started to condense on the *inside* of my lens. eep!
The horse was getting a serious amount of treats including a whole lettuce, the companion sheep was also received treats.
They gallop and trot, whinny and neigh, capturing our imagination — and our hearts. Indeed, horses are said to have done more to change human history than any other domestic animal, once upon a time carrying explorers to new frontiers and mighty armies to great conquests. Though their glory days may be in the past, these hoofed creatures continue to enthrall us.
As it is said, "History was written on the back of the horse."
In Northern Areas of Pakistan, the legacy of horse continues when each year Polo being played at the highest ground in the world; Shandur. Where polo is still being played in its original form along with the Bushkazi in upper NWFP province.
In the plains of Punjab there is a game called Tent Pegging being played using the skillful art of riding and hitting the target with pin point accuracy... It is also considered to be a sign of power and pride.
The tradition continues as polo, tent pegging, and bushkazi florish as time is passing by. My point here is why we promote western sports like cricket, football when we have rich sports of ourself like Bandar Killa, Peetho Garam, Tent Pegging, Polo, Bushkazi. I never saw these matches at national level over the television.
Its time to think and reflect.

My view today from the front door. I've been fascinated with watching these horses in the fog all day.
See the great stallions fight,
Testing, testing all their might,
One is lightning king of the mountain, Adille Wong
The other is the mighty, powerful fountain,
Lightning rears ready to kill,
But Fountain shows increadible skill,
Who will win? Who will stay?
Finally Lightning gives him a beating,
The defested Fountain is quickly retreating,
Still the king- his neigh can be heard,
Rining in triumph,
He returns to his herd.
It was a photo finish for three of Greater Manchester Police’s brave horses, who were crowned joint winners at this year's Animal Hero Awards.
Police horses Hexam, Captain and Tangle were honoured at the star-studded ceremony in London, hosted by Amanda Holden and attended by celebrities including Alesha Dixon and Brian May.
Along with a former military dog called Rex, Hexam, Captain and Tangle were awarded joint Public Service Animal of Year for their bravery while working a football match between Manchester United and Liverpool in March.
When the game finished and the crowds began to exit the stadium, a group of fans made threats of violence, determined to reach opposing fans.
As the horses intervened to control the situation, they were targeted by the group who began to throw coins, smoke bombs and fireworks. The horses were then repeatedly shoved, punched and pelted with projectiles.
Leaping into action, Hexam, Captain and Tangle helped to push back the troublesome crowd, making sure that the missiles fell short of innocent fans leaving from nearby exits.
Sergeant Cara Charlesworth, one of the police riders that evening, said: “The courage that these three horses showed in what must have been a terrifying experience was amazing.
“They did not falter and repeatedly dealt with the crowd again and again when every one of their instincts should have been telling them to turn and run.
“What was also remarkable was that five minutes later the same three horses were stood out on the forecourt as if nothing had happened, letting small children and genuine fans stroke them and have photos taken, despite being violently attacked only minutes earlier.”
Hexam, Captain and Tangle were also nominated for their involvement with the evacuation of 75,000 fans during the bomb scare at Old Trafford in May.
Specialist Operations Inspector Susan Redfern, responsible for the Mounted Unit, said: “Congratulations to Hexam, Captain and Tangle for winning this thoroughly deserved award.
“With the support of their riders, Sergeant Charlesworth, PC Cassie Barratt and PC Aaron Wilson, they managed to make an extremely volatile situation stable.”
When asked to comment on receiving their award, Hexam, Captain and Tangle responded: “It was neigh trouble!”

Kilchii and I have come so far since I adopted him. I can't believe how lucky I was to not only find a gorgeous mustang, but one with the best personality ever. He's literally like a dog. From sleeping in my lap, to licking my hands, to chasing me around and neighing to me when I call him. We've bonded so quickly and have become best friends.
I still remember how spooked and frightened he was the first day I got him and I just so badly wanted to gain his trust. The first time I ever worked with him I just sat in the round pen and walked around a bit so he could figure out what I was. Once he started getting curious I began getting closer to him. I was probably in the round pen for a couple hours before I could finally get a lead rope on him. From the moment we touched, I knew he would quickly become my friend. After the first week, every time I came to work with him, he would always come to the gate and wait to greet me.
He was still incredibly hard to train since he was scared and spooked at anything new I showed him. Desensitizing him to saddle blankets was at the top of my list. With plenty of patience and hours of working with him step-by-step he eventually started getting better. His mind set even changed. He now thinks before moving his feet, which was such a big and amazing improvement! He has surprised me so much with how hard he has tried to please me and I am so proud of how he's turned out, especially knowing I'm the only human that has ever worked with him. He knows all the ground work skills and even some riding skills. He's a pro at lunging and tracks up amazingly, he knows flexing of the neck, leg aids, driving and more.
I just love this horse so much and could never give him up. I still can't thank the Extreme Mustang Makeover and BLM enough for the opportunity to train and later adopt such an amazing horse! I'm one proud mustang owner and can't stop bragging about how lucky I am. Mustangs are one of the most fascinating & all-round great breeds I know. I've seen what they can do and I'm just blown away, especially by my Kilchii."
What a wonderful testament to the connection between one of America's mustangs and a horse loving teenager! It is something we never tire of hearing about; the unique bond adopters form with their mustang when they get past the hurdle of the first touch and continue down the training trail as a team.
these two live just beside me!! Infact I can see them from my kitchen window. There is a thrid one lurking about but he was camera shy and beside the horses are two big highland cows waiting to pop and I'm desperate to get a pic of them being born which is any day now.
Had to take the kids to see the horses today as our neighbour who was out riding last night was thrown off her horse!! She has no idea of the damage she has done to my children. Ritchie was up god knows how many times through the night last night convinced the horse was going to come through his bedroom window. I had to tell him that the neigh was the horse crying cos it got a scare and not that is was shouting!!!
Too fast and too close to get both in shot. Important not to get between the horse and the cliff edge....
20 day old Avanti bit his next door neigh-bor, Beyonce` on the nose and then took off before she could bite him back. She was SO insulted!!!! (And he looked so pleased with his bad little self).
and the end is neigh. Leaving our first small nest for the next one. The one he built for me in his strong hands. The one where it all started. And perhaps it's true that things can change in a day. That a few dozen hours can affect the outcome of whole lifetimes. And that when they do, those few dozen hours, like the salvaged remains of a burned house---the charred clock, the singed photograph, the scorched furniture---must be resurrected from the ruins and examined. Preserved. Accounted for. Little events, ordinary things, smashed and reconstitutred. Imbued with new meaning. Suddenly they become the bleached bones of a story..........

Merry Christmas everyone!
Not my best work but I haven't been shooting much lately and am trying to get back into the swing of things. This horse lives just down the street from my house so when I saw it out as I was driving by I figured I better get my camera from the house and have a go. Had to max out my 300mm at 800 ISO and the photos arenot very sharp. This ones not too great but not too bad either, have to start somewhere. Maybe some still lifes over the weekend.
Listening to the birds, watching rabbits hopping around in the fields, seeing colourful wild flowers, hearing sheep bleating and horses neighing in the distance - it makes your soul sing and we enjoy it so much.

Do you happen to have an apple or carrot for your pal, Phil Collins, who is not only a horse, but also a musician, but not that musician?
I got so nervous when he first approached us and rested his neck on those prongs of wire!
He really seemed to want a treat and my son wanted to go get some carrots...however, not knowing what his diet might be I didn't think that would be a good idea. With my luck, he'd be the only horse in the world with a carrot allergy!
