Thrilled to share a new batch of landscapes, fresh from my Alaskan cruise aboard Princess Cruises' Ruby Princess. This collection's a mix of Nikon Z9 and Fuji GFX II captures, letting me dive into everything from sweeping vistas to nuanced details.
The Gang of 6. Clockwise from top: Crazy, Yoli, Badger, Thimble, Louie, Mary.
Of the original crew, just Thimble is left now, but in December he got a new batch of agouti cuties and now has a harem again. ;)

Just before I left for my walking tour in England (late April) I made a new batch of emulsion. Once I'd completed it, I used it to make a smaller batch of speed- and color-sensitized emulsion, as I wanted to really do that right for once, using everything I'd learned before. I very carefully made the batch, hovering over it to ensure the temps didn't get far out of range, mixed up fresh chemistry for the various sensitizers, being careful to correctly calculate the percentages and amounts needed, and letting the emulsion ripen a bit longer than usual. I managed to pour a handful of test plates and try them out before I left, and was very encouraged by what I saw. But I didn't have time to do it properly; I had another task (long story) that used up the plates without telling me a lot about them.
After a very busy May and early June, I am finally getting back to it. Yesterday I used the entire batch to pour about 14 4x5s (and one 5x7, just about, with the last dregs of the batch). Had other things to do today, but late in the afternoon I had a few minutes, so I went out in the backyard and used this torture test of a scene (open shade, "golden hour", mostly green foliage, very warm colors all round) to get a sense of the speed of this batch.
I guesstimated ISO 8 (being conservative), and assumed it would be either that, or slower, which has been a safe assumption in my experience. So I exposed the first section of plate at ISO 8, the second section at ISO 4, the third at ISO 2, and the last at ISO 1. I added a bit of extra exposure to each to account for the lack of blue light plus the warm, dark green subject mater.
Once I popped it into the developer, I discovered that the image came up so fast I had to pull it a bit early. With the developer I'm using at the moment (Xtol 1:1, as I had some on hand) I estimated about 7 minutes of processing time. I had to pull it at 5. And there is more than enough shadow detail even in the ISO 8 section. I'm pretty confident that this is more like ISO 12 and maybe even 25 in better light. Looking forward to trying out more plates this weekend to see.
I am glad I went with the numbered option for this new batch of yacht hulls... saves me having to try and think of a title (and the fact that usually leads to bad puns).

Heavily overcast noonish at 1 pm and pretty much in shade.
The measured EV was 10,5 roughly so the exposure was calculated to 18 min at f/8 using the reliable Tessar 180 mm for this half plate test of a new batch of 4 sheets to take to Italy this coming Sunday.
By the end of the exposure the light deteriorated further and was EV 9,5
The 4 sheets of whole plate can give me 8 exposures on half plate so a decision is needed very soon.

Detroit, Michigan
November 9, 2010
Jumped on the 265 SMART bus in Westland at 8:30am and took it to Fairlane for the 200 bus to Michigan Avenue and Michigan Central Station. Cannondale 1FG on front of the bus. I hit MCS and then jumped on Rosa Parks. As I approached Fort Street, 15 minutes into the ride, I hear the rear tire spewing air. Chunk of glass.
Fixed that and hit some fun places. The Detroiter Bar, Detroit Beer Company and The Detroit Pub provided fuel for the ride. Detroit Beer Company was boiling up a new batch IPA and Broadway all the way to Grand Circus Park was smelling like roses.
Caught a crew setting up a set for Detroit 1-8-7 not too far from The Detroit Athletic Club.
Mountain biking Detroit rocks. Just remember a camera.

Made a new batch of ram's horn barrettes. Did some new colors too!
These horns are cast from original sculpts. The plastic used is not only very tough but also incredibly lightweight. They are so light, they float in water and their weight is barely noticeable when worn.
A new batch of Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force troops arrived in Juba on November 21, 2016 to join U.N. peacekeeping activities under a more robust mandate in line with Japan’s new security law.
The first batch of 130 forces arrived with the rest of the 350-strong force expected later.
Japanese media are reporting that 60 of the troops are in charge of security while another unit is responsible for engineering work.
The Japanese government last year approved the new law expanding the role of the Japanese military serving in peacekeeping missions beyond engineering and logistical work, authorizing them to rescue humanitarian workers when under attack.

Another bad day weather wise so time to brew up a new batch. The milk containers are HDPE plastic and are stored in a secure, dedicated area of the garage well away from the kitchen. They are suitable for chemicals and CHEAP. I store in the dark. 40 rolls or 3 months life I estimate, which do you think comes first ?

So after going through 5 years of uni without ever feeling the need to get a bar job, I've found myself working in not a bar but a full-blown micro-brewery. Here I am - at least pretending to be - running the Bright Brewery bar on Sunday when frontman of Bomba and drummer of John Butler Trio, Nicky Bomba was playing for the day, with Bomba.
As far as jobs go, this is a pretty nice one. In the last few days I've learned a bit about making beer and helped a bit with brewing a new batch of lager. But the best part is being in a customer-facing job, meeting loads of new people every day and having a role that requires a lot of talking (and in my case, milking my Scottish accent a bit). The brewery is quite a small place, and a little unusual in that the beer is not only fermented in the big tanks behind me, but also served straight to the bar taps once it's ready. I'm not much of a beer drinker but the Porter goes down surprisingly well!

The welcome ceremony of new batch of 200 Hour yoga TTC students took place at the premises of AYM Yoga School in Upper Tapovan, Rishikesh. All new students were full of energy and participated in the yagna with great vigor. Some of them even tried to chant certain mantras, used during the yagna to appease gods. During the ceremony, they were told about the importance of various mantras and why they are used.
