Given that I set the challenges for Musically Challenged this week, it is about time I did one of them. So here is Seasick Steve's "I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left". Sort of appropriate for me at the moment as I am currently between jobs..... a bit nerve wracking wondering how I will pay the mortgage in a few months..... Although it is a glorious time of the year to be able to sit in the garden etc.

One of the most musically accomplished, critically acclaimed, and commercially popular funk bands of the 1970s, Earth, Wind & Fire continues to use funk as their foundation, but also incorporates jazz, smooth soul, gospel, R&B, pop, rock, blues, folk, and disco into their repertoire. This six-time Grammy Award winning group stayed on the charts for years with hits like “Shining Star,” “Sing a Song,” “September,” “Boogie Wonderland,” and “After the Love Has Gone.”

Two musically gifted women’s lives overlap over the boundaries of time in Rosalyn Story’s novel Sing Her Name. With racism barring her way, a nineteenth century concert artist can never achieve the place in history she deserves. Then, long after her death in poverty and obscurity, a 21st century waitress, talented but musically untaught, has a chance to revive this singer’s name and reach her own success–if her family ties don’t hold her back. Photos made at The Center at Belvedere during the Festival of the Book on 3/23/23.

Wow!!!
The day started musically, with refreshing water sound play, as the basics of Music.
Shape Hopscotch: an educative way to improve on their fine motor skills, gave a wonderful learning experience.
Wall number game for numeracy was also exciting.
To enhance their literacy skills, they sorted out phonics by sending phonic mails.
Archeologist!! Archeology!!
Yes… at White Fields Nursery, archeologists were busy digging up old remains of dinosaurs and insects.
Kids enjoyed Water play, during which they had to search for the sea animals in their own little sea.
They enjoyed the ring game and painting activities, and also had a great time learning about number 4 and counting with pom poms.
During outdoor game, kids played a "hit the target" game.
The day ended with a balloon tennis game.
A day to explore and to enjoy…

Taken at the WWII Memorial. For those who haven't been, there are these pillars/markers and each have a state etched in the stone (as well as other US-tributaries and other nations who fought side-by-side with American troops).
Luckily, California was one of the ones my head could possibly reach. This is me at...630am? Oh yeah, no room for bumming out in DC, no siree!

"Light and day
is more than you'll say
cuz all
my feelings are more
than I can let by
or not
more than you've got
just follow the day...
follow the day and reach for the sun"

Two weeks in NOLA for the mardi gras 2017
Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from the musically-inclined son of Zeus and Calliope. Founding members included Harry Connick, both the junior and senior.
In New Orleans, the krewe established themselves as a superkrewe with their first parade in 1994, which rolled with 700 riders. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.
The Krewe's throws include a number of popular items including emblem beads, stuffed animals, signature beads, light-up Orpheus medallion beads, cups, three different types of doubloons, and 4-foot-long stuffed dragons.
They have a number of notable floats including the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand, the Smoking Mary which is a six unit float that looks like a steam locomotive, a Trojan horse and the Orpheus Leviathan Float, which is a three unit, 139-foot float, and the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Fats Domino wass the honorary grand marshall for 2014. His eldest son, Antoine Domino III, rode in the parade and perform his 85 year old father's music.
In addition to Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino reigned as the krewe's celebrity monarch.

Somewhat photogenic but musically not my cup of tea. There's something awkward and weird about her singing that I can't explain, it's almost done in a whispery voice but not exactly singing? Her lyrics are shallow and dreadful, everything is too literal and ends up in talking about taking pills or vulnerability. "My heart is bigger than yours because it lets people inside"... yes.
Anyway, nice thing on her shoulder :)
Missing Persons - #37/52 in my Musically Inspired set
Life is so strange when you don't know
How can you tell where you're going to?
You can't be sure of any situation.
Something could change and then you won't know.
You ask yourself,
"Where do we go from here?
It seems so all too near.
Just as far beyond as I can see,
I still don't know what this all means to me."
So you tell yourself,
"I have nowhere to go.
I don't know what to do.
And I don't even know the time of day.
I guess it doesn't matter any way."
Life is so strange.
When you don't know
Your destination.
Something could change
It's unkown.
And then you won't know
Destination unknown.

Wanted to take a picture, so I thought I could be my own model (again).. I think I added a bit too much contrast when playing around in PS, but do like the feel of it so I don't care :)
For Musically Challenged:
Roddy Woomble - My Secret is My Silence
From the warm side of the window
The views always look the same
But your face it held the stories
Full of dreams it can contain
But you know nothing is outside
And my secret is my silence
My secret is my silence
And my silence is in vain
(This is the first photo of my 365 which I'm not calling a 365 and not numbering because I've got no idea wether this is something i want to continue a whole year. For now I just want to take a picture every day..)

Violinist Laura Lutzke enjoys a musically versatile career, with a passion for solo playing, chamber music and new ways of making music. Born and raised in New York, she served as Concertmaster of the New York Youth Symphony from 2004 to 2007. Her playing has been described as "liquid, radiant and shimmering, with beautifully played solo lines" by "The New York Times". As an avid chamber musician, Laura was one of the "Rising Stars" at the Caramoor International Music Festival, collaborating with artists such as Atar Arad, Pamela Frank and Arnold Steinhardt. She is a current member of the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), performing regularly at well-respected venues such as Le Poisson Rouge, St. Ann's Warehouse and Galapagos Art Space. Having regularly attended the Open Chamber Music Seminar at Prussia Cove in Cornwall, UK since 2006, she was chosen to participate in their 2010 Autumn Tour, ending with a performance at the Wigmore Hall in London. Laura earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School as a student of Lewis Kaplan, and she is now pursuing a second postgraduate degree in Violin Performance with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Laura performs on an 1822 violin made by Pierre Pacherele, on a generous loan from The Christophe Landon Rare Violins Collection.
For Musically Challenged Pearl Jam - Jeremy. Is there a person in this world that has not heard this song? Seriously, one of Pearl Jam's super smash hits. But the story and message behind it is very powerful. For those that do not know the details it is a song inspired by a true story of a 16 year old kid named Jeremy, who killed himself in front of his English class, just to get revenge on the kids that continually bullied him. Just imagine what that kid must have gone through in order to end it all that way.....baffles the mind.
And for TOTW - Define Yourself. Keen......I have a keen eye and pick up on many things that a lot of people do not. And I mean, it's not that I pay a lot of attention and see things, but rather that I can arrive at a conclusion sometimes with little things here and there, I don't need the full story. The funny thing is that sometimes I totally miss out on the obvious.

Right Kind of Wrong~Leeann Rimes
Know all about
About your reputation
And how its bound to be a heartbreak situation
But I cant help it if Im helpless
Every time that Im where you are
You walk in and my strength walks out the door
Say my name and I cant fight it anymore
Oh I know, I should go
But I need your touch just too damn much
Loving you isnt really something I should do
Shouldnt wanna spend my time with you
That I should try to be strong
But baby youre the right kind of wrong
Yeah baby youre the right kind of wrong
Might be a mistake
A mistake Im making
But what youre giving I am happy to be taking
Cause no ones ever made me feel
The way I feel when Im in your arms
They say youre something I should do without
They dont know what goes on
When the lights go out
Theres no way to explain
All the pleasure is worth all the pain
Loving you isnt really something I should do
Shouldnt wanna spend my time with you
That I should try to be strong
But baby youre the right kind of wrong
Yeah baby youre the right kind of wrong
I should try to run
But I just cant seem to
Cause every time I run youre the one I run to
Cant do without, what you do to me
I dont care if Im in too deep
Know all about
About your reputation
And how its bound to be a heartbreak situation
But I cant help it if Im helpless
Every time that Im where you are

Say my name and I cant fight it anymore
