The debut ep from Guilty Parents is finally here. After a lengthy gestation period the band have released this via Danger Lazer Phaser Razor Records and we have got a handful of copies in stock.
Musically the band say they are influenced by "Die Kreuzen, Make-Up, COC, Mummies, Bad Form,
Bad Seeds, Flag, Sonics, Penetraiters, Poison Idea, Gories, Murder City Devils, Gun Club..." - i'm a fucking idiot though, so i'll just say this is no pretension, ultra rock'n'roll with a fucking punk as fuck heart. Its the tightest sloppy lo-fi rock band ever. For real - this dichotomy exists within this band.
They have already played with Part Chimp, Souvaris, Lovvers, Male Bonding, Army of Flying Robots, Crocodiles, Ramming Speed, An Albatross and Limp Wrist, which is cool!
I've heard someone roaming around our backyard before, but I've never been able to get a hold of him. Try as I might, he always slips away. I hear him walk in the darkness, the grass crumbling under his feet. Sometimes I even see his footprints on the grass. See him crouching in a corner, but as I get close he vanishes into thin air. I hear him talking to himself, but when I get close I hear nothing but white noise. Somtimes I hear other voices too, but they all sound alike.
I wonder what's he doing here, what does he want, what's his purpose, will he ever leave, will he stay around, will I ever talk to him, will he talk back, will he tell me his story, will he get mad, will he remain calm, what is he looking for?
Is he a lost soul, is he a ghost, is he a poltergeist, did he lived here, elsewhere, when, how, for how long? Was he killed, did he died naturally, did he fulfill his purpose, is he seeking vengance, is he looking over us?
All good questions.

Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from the musically-inclined son of Zeus and Calliope. Founding members included Harry Connick, both the junior and senior.
In New Orleans, the krewe established themselves as a superkrewe with their first parade in 1994, which rolled with 700 riders. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.
The Krewe's throws include a number of popular items including emblem beads, stuffed animals, signature beads, light-up Orpheus medallion beads, cups, three different types of doubloons, and 4-foot-long stuffed dragons.
They have a number of notable floats including the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand, the Smoking Mary which is a six unit float that looks like a steam locomotive, a Trojan horse and the Orpheus Leviathan Float, which is a three unit, 139-foot float, and the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Fats Domino wass the honorary grand marshall for 2014. His eldest son, Antoine Domino III, rode in the parade and perform his 85 year old father's music.
In addition to Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino reigned as the krewe's celebrity monarch.

During outdoor game, kids played a "hit the target" game.
The day ended with a balloon tennis game.

So today I come home to my little niece and my sister leaving for class. this meant the baby belonged in my arms. seeing as i have a quotes quiz for to kill a mockingbird and i hadn't finished the book. it was time to read. but my niece kept on waking up and i remembered the one thing that makes her sleep is me incessantly talking to her. (i teach her about hippos and elephants and all the animals in africa :D) but the sound of my voice reading to her lulled her to sleep and being so enchanted with it i could not stop reading it outloud. my voice evolved from my normal reading voice which involves a pretty thick spanish accent (it gets thicker when i read) into something that quite surprised me. im usually horrible imitating accents cause mine gets in the way. but soon enough i had the souther drawl musically telling a tale of injustice and hardships in a world of hypocrisy.
then back in time to biology class (test tomorrow) where quickly studying the levels of biology (from elemental particles to subatomic to atomic to organelles to cells to tissues to organs to systems to organisms to populations to communities to the biosphere in general) we drew a line half way distinguishing where people tell apart what is alive and what isn't. it was drawn near the middle at the term cell.
It seemed almost an arbitrary line which separated two realms as close as organelles and cells into two different categories. it seems impossible to me that something like an atom could suddendly become life in the form of a cell. there must be something that breathed life into it. the fact that we are made of simply just chemicals, atoms... it amazes me the kind of thoughts we are capable of having. the kind of realities we have. how are the cells in my fingers any better than the atoms in this keyboard that they have the capability to be alive?
i don't understand how poeple don't believe in God.
what do we do with this great gift? we slander and prejudice and tear people apart both mentally and physically. this wan't just jews and Hitler or just blacks and whites, men and women, HUTUS AND TUTSIS! this is more than that. we are but mere atoms that someone has loved anough to breathe life into. what right have we to judge?

Watched "Music and Lyrics" this weekend.. And something she said in the movie struck me as I was listening to the songs in Musically Challenged, and came across this one by Snow Patrol.. When the words and the melody come together - it's magic... A lot of SP's music is... different.. The words alone don't make much sense - not the way country music tells a story - but when they put the words to music - magic happens..
I know this song is something about splitting up - or separation - and that's what makes it special - that ambiguity allows us to hear what WE want to hear in the song.. And the slow, circular rhythm of the music is mesmerizing - hypnotic.. rather like watching a fire burn... "even if you cannot hear my voice - I'll be right there beside you dear.."

You know, I was raised in a time when people weren't as far apart as they are now - at least musically. There were only a handful of radio stations in any given market - all AM - and almost all "Top 40". So the white kids listened to Motown, and the little brown kids listened to the Beatles, and I can't help but believe that both of our worlds were enlarged and enriched by that exposure. Plus, we all shared a commonality based on music.
Now - ironically in the name of "diversity", we have been divided and the parts of America that were once almost joined are drifting apart again. Division and separation is never, ever good for a nation. Or even for music. I heard the president of Motown Records accusing America of abandoning black music - but from my perspective, it was Motown that abandoned me. Dion Warwick, Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross were replaced by potty-mouthed, crotch-grabbing thugs flashing gang signs to an ultra-low bass beat...
Dude - I don't wanna hear about how tough it is being a heavily armed gangsta millionaire - I just wanna sing along and maybe even dance around the house...

Olivia is quite musically gifted. She is caught up in playing a beautiful, romantic song on her Barbie violin.
Olivia's been here since November of 2007. Blanches are another Pullip with the kind of colorful faceup I really like. I love all the pink blushiness with her brown eyemakup, dark red lips, and olive green eyes. She's borrowing a Takara Jenny Victorian Excelina's dress. Since the bonnet that goes with it won't fit her big head, I layered some ribbon, lace, and trims to complete her look.

Over the years I've learned to play various musical instruments, including Piano, Recorder, Clarinet, Percussion and most recently Electric Bass. The day started musically, with refreshing water sound play, as the basics of Music.
Shape Hopscotch: an educative way to improve on their fine motor skills, gave a wonderful learning experience.
Wall number game for numeracy was also exciting.
To enhance their literacy skills, they sorted out phonics by sending phonic mails.
Archeologist!! Archeology!!
Yes… at White Fields Nursery, archeologists were busy digging up old remains of dinosaurs and insects.
Kids enjoyed Water play, during which they had to search for the sea animals in their own little sea.
They enjoyed the ring game and painting activities, and also had a great time learning about number 4 and counting with pom poms.
During outdoor game, kids played a "hit the target" game.
The day ended with a balloon tennis game.
A day to explore and to enjoy…
