The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) East Africa is working with partners to empower communities in lower Nyando manage climate risk. Agro-forestry, land and water management are among the mitigation interventions employed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Nyando basin. So far, 22 tree nurseries, some owned by self-help groups (more than half of all the nurseries are female-owned). More than 50,000 high-quality tree seedlings have been produced, each worth KSh10-20. ORION is a multipurpose Crew Vehicle that is been worked on by NASA along with Lockheed Martin. The capsule you see here was the actual capsule used in a test flight in 2010 in New Mexico, this test flight was to test the Launch Abort System. More tests are scheduled for 2014 & 2017 all without human pilots on them. By 2021 it should be ready for astronauts. The flight in 2021 would be deep space flights to the moon, asteroids and potentially Mars.
I got to take this picture at a science fair at the convention center in Washington DC.
