The newest edition to Laser Photonics’ product line is the Titan Series. This machine is Laser Photonics’ first multipurpose fiber laser cutting machine with a single pallet shuttle table. It is equipped with a high-powered, energy efficient fiber laser and an advanced direct drive motion control platform. Comparable to other machines, the Titan has a lighter weight design and the fastest cutting speed on the market for comparable systems. This system offers ultra low power consumption allowing for the lowest operating costs among all laser types. The Titan’s fully software-controlled geometry alignment eliminates the need for special installation requirements. The Titan requires no optical system alignment, laser service or laser replacement parts making this system virtually maintenance free.

  

After the War of Secession many Union industries were either bankrupt, split up or now on the side (voluntarily or not) of the ISA. One such industry was the great LinCom Corporation. Commissioned just before the war by the Terran Trade Authority to build a large fleet of multipurpose cargo vessels, the conflict left half the Board murdered and most of its assets seized by one side or the other. The giant rusting hulks of the half-finished order lay in the desolate ruins of abandoned martian shipyards, scoured clean by the stinging sands of the red planet.

 

When the Union Navy went looking for a carrier-type vessel for their new fleet, Tauk Drive Yards proposed an interesting scheme. Tauk engineers proposed to use the unfinished hulls of the cargo ships as the base from which to build these new warships. This would keep costs and manufacturing time very low, which were both priorities to the Union Navy at the time.

 

Tauk Drive Yards' Hunter-class carrier is the glorious result of this scheme. The Hunter is renowned for its massive internal hangar bays. Able to accomodate hundreds of Star Falcon fighters and a dozen bomber wings alongside dozens of orbital shuttles, the Hunter is capable of supporting a planetary invasion all by itself. Although the carrier's hull is somewhat armoured, its sheer bulk precludes it from having truly heavy armour lest its cost balloon to eye-popping proportions.

 

After all the prefabbed hulls were used, the following Hunters were built much ore slowly but with heavier armour. These later versions are fewer in number and more expensive, but like their earlier brethren they rely mainly on their speed and airwings for protection.

 

For speed, two primary and two secondary Allison-Sheffield engines provide ample Delta V, and two sets of Mk 8 maneuvering thrusters provide the Hunter with excellent mobility for its mass.

 

The front section of the hull has two sliding hangar doors segmented in three, to allow for a optimal balance of protection and deployment speed for the carrier's air assets. Behind that, amidships, is a through-deck landing & recovery hangar which can also launch fighters, in a pinch.

 

The drawbacks of the Hunter design is its huge supply cost and its lack of offensive weaponry besides its airwing. Aside from ten twin laser cannon turrets along its hull, its fighters and bombers are its only means of attack. Consequently, a Hunter always travels with a strong escort of destroyers and cruisers to screen it.

 

Tauk Drive Yards tried to sell the carrier design to the Terran Republic, but their representative were practically laughed out of the room when the personnel requirements to staff a single ship were revealed. Interestingly, the Territorial Navy will often post destroyers or cruisers to the screen of a Hunter-class carrier in cooperation with the Union Navy.

 

Battlegroup AC 12, led by the Hunter UNS Orion, was one such fleet that was involved in the evacuation of Aurelius. The Orion alone managed to bring 40,000 civilians to Charlemagne.

 

The Hunter plays a critical role in the Sol Union's force projection. About the only job they are unsuited for is piracy suppression. They are too unwieldy and demand so many resources that their presence in any sector is immediately advertised. In fact, the enormous complement aboard these carriers (including ship's crew, marines, landing forces, technicians, engineers, ordinancemen, aircrew, flight deck crew, and dozens of other specialties) is such that the Union Navy's traditionally strict rules about inter-service and inter-ship co-mingling are noticeably relaxed aboard Hunter-class carriers, making them a very popular posting in the Navy.

Munga stands for 'Mehrzweck-Universal-Geländefahrzeug' to be translated as multipurpose universal off-road vehicle. It was developed in 1954 and produced as Typ 91/4.

In 1956 it became a standard vehicle for the German Bundeswehr. It was also for sale as a assenger car.

Since 1962 it was called Munga.

It's a pity I didn't look under the cover for a license plate. Now it's impossible for me to identify this vehicle.

The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) East Africa is working with partners to empower communities in lower Nyando manage climate risk. Agro-forestry, land and water management are among the mitigation interventions employed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Nyando basin. So far, 22 tree nurseries, some owned by self-help groups (more than half of all the nurseries are female-owned). More than 50,000 high-quality tree seedlings have been produced, each worth KSh10-20. Where I heard about John F. Kennedy assassination.

 

An assembly was called the day JFK was assassinated. As we assembled by sitting on the floor in the gym/auditorium, our principal, Mr. Bell, paced back and forth across the stage walking up to the mike several times before he could say what had happened. Eventually he made the announcement and we were pretty shocked. After that assembly, we went back to the classrooms and I remember the teacher crying and wondering how she was going to teach the class. Soon after that her dilemma was solved as someone came down the hall with a message from the office that school was being cancelled for the day.

 

I walked home with my older sister Judith. We still thought JFK might survive. At the school, they said he had been shot and was in the hospital. My sister said she had the feeling of icy fingers hearing the news. Then she pointed to her neck (I think) and said it hit there. I ask, the icy finger? She said, no the bullet. When we got home, mom had the TV on. Black and White. She greeted us with the bad news that Kennedy had been pronounced dead. After that moment, my memory was a bit foggy. I was listening to the radio when news came through that Oswald was shot. A few days later came the funeral, on black and white TV. Solemn and dreary. I think I started crying when the presidential theme song was played. The flag draped coffin being pulled by horsed was scary to watch. It showed up in my nightmares for years afterwards. As a young child, I wondered how long it would take for the nation to recover. I followed the news and remember kind of rooting for Texas Governor Connally's recovery. He was hit by bullets also, but survived. I would have never guessed that now, over 50 years later, people are still debating who actually shot JFK. It was autumn of my third grade year at Edison.

B61 Multipurpose Thermonuclear Tactical Bomb

Designed by Los Alamos National Laboratory, both Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories conducted B61 bomb prototype drop tests in Nevada. The B61 can be carried aboard a variety of strategic and tactical aircraft (B52 and B2A bombers and F16 fighters).

One multipurpose Watermaster handles all the work at this site: Removal of excess siltation by suction dredging and excavating and also removal of invasive vegetation by raking. This saves the environment, money and time.

I made this photo of foot washing at Fort Funston. Fort Funston is a former harbor defense installation located in the southwestern corner of San Francisco, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Formerly known as the Lake Merced Military Reservation, the fort is now a protected area within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Information from Wikipedia. The Fort is visited by half a million people annually and is a place where people can walk or run their dogs and, also, where experienced hang gliders gather to run off the cliffs overlooking the Pacific ocean. Except certain paved areas, this ocean side venue is all sand, which both people and animals pick up while romping or walking. Looks like the dog was not the only one getting its feet washed at this multipurpose water fountain. I captured this image using my Canon Powershot SX50.
