I had a bit of a macroey day inspired by Macro Mondays' multicolour theme.

It was our first 'proper' day and we decided to go and explore the center of the city. It was a mild day, the sun was out, yes, 'another beautiful day in paradise' we joked.

Wandering and admiring everything, I noticed how colourful it was, and also the people, oh dear... how pale we looked!

On Greenmarket Square, you had all the stalls, with all the arty stuff, we both noticed how creative the local artists are, often with minimum resources.

You do have those that beg and then you have those that will do ANYTHING to make a living.

More about that later!

I find 'strolling' very tiring, so we found ourselves a place for some refreshments and a 'break',lol, the cameras never far away and started 'people-watching'. I caught this, does it get any more 'traditional'?

A mother and child, African style, no wonder they often have a tight bond later in life.

Rainbow lorikeets are true parrots, within the Psittacoidea superfamily in the order Psittaciformes. The rainbow lorikeet or lorikeet (common name) is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. They are true parrots of medium-size, with the length ranging from 25 to 30 cm, including the tail. The weight varies from 75 to 157 g. The plumage of the nominate race, as with all subspecies, is very bright. The head is deep blue with a greenish-yellow nuchal collar, and the rest of the upper parts (wings, back and tail) are green. The chest is orange/yellow. The belly is deep blue, and the thighs and rump are green. In flight a yellow wing-bar contrasts clearly with the red underwing coverts. 2362

The giraffe (Giraffa) is an African artiodactyl mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant. It is traditionally considered to be one species, Giraffa camelopardalis, with nine subspecies. However the existence of up to eight extant giraffe species have been described, based upon research into the mitochondrial and nuclear DNA, as well as morphological measurements of Giraffa. The giraffe's chief distinguishing characteristics are its extremely long neck and legs, its horn-like ossicones, and its distinctive coat patterns. It is classified under the family Giraffidae, along with its closest extant relative, the okapi. Its scattered range extends from Chad in the north to South Africa in the south, and from Niger in the west to Somalia in the east. Giraffes usually inhabit savannahs and woodlands. Their food source is leaves, fruits and flowers of woody plants, primarily acacia species, which they browse at heights most other herbivores cannot reach. They may be preyed on by lions, leopards, spotted hyenas and African wild dogs. Giraffes live in herds of related females and their offspring, or bachelor herds of unrelated adult males, but are gregarious and may gather in large aggregations. Males establish social hierarchies through 'necking', which are combat bouts where the neck is used as a weapon. Dominant males gain mating access to females, which bear the sole responsibility for raising the young. 59872

It seemed appropriate to exaggerate the colours a little!

ALSTROEMERIA

Most of you know by now how I love 'playing' with light, a never ending beautiful challenge, food for my creative soul, which I so desperately need at the moment...

Each flower or object, most definitely people, seem to have a different 'personality' which I'm trying to capture.

Alstroemeria, the genus named after the Swedish baron Alströmer who brought them back from a trip to South America in 1753.

Also called the Peruvian Lily or Inca Lily, is a South American genus of about 50 species of flowering plants.

The flower, which resembles a miniature lily, is very popular for bouquets and flower arrangements in the commercial cut flower trade.

They have a vase life of about two weeks.

Freesia is a genus of 14-16 species of flowering plants in the family Iridaceae, native to Africa. Of the 14 species, 12 are native to Cape Province, South Africa, the remaining two to tropical Africa, one species extending north of the equator to Sudan.

both visual and fragrant pleasure...

The genus was named in honour of Friedrich Heinrich Theodor Freese (1795-1876), a German physician.

They are herbaceous plants which grow from a corm 1-2.5 cm diameter, which sends up a tuft of narrow leaves 10-30 cm long, and a sparsely branched stem 10-40 cm tall bearing a few leaves and a loose one-sided spike of fragrant narrowly funnel-shaped flowers.

THE LITTLE LANTERNS... PHYSALIS

#AbFav_MULTICOLOUR_🌈

#AbFav_PHOTOSTORY

PHYSALIS alkekengi or Chinese Lantern Plant, they are native from southern Europe east across southern Asia to Japan.

Popular for the papery bright-orange lantern pods that develop around the ripening fruit, these are often cut and used for Thanksgiving and Halloween arrangements.

Plants are aggressive spreaders, and best kept out of the perennial border so they don't take over.

Also can be grown in tubs.

Small white flowers appear in midsummer, over a bushy mound of coarse green leaves.

Pods are green at first, but should be harvested as soon as the orange colour develops, the leaves stripped then stems hung upside down to dry in a warm dark room.

Thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)

Broadbeach is a coastal suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. At the 2016 Census, Broadbeach had a population of 5,514. Development in the area today mostly incorporates low rise structures, consisting of single bedroom houses and apartment blocks. Much of the suburb consists of canal waterways, including Lake Intrepid that are linked to the Nerang River. 2024

New baseball boot with multicolour choice HUD. This one is my personal fave. P.S. this is an in-world shot - though I had to fake it a bit my merging 2 shots - one with DOF and one without. SL's DOF is soooo short for close up on small objects.

More straight out of the camera faffing about at Collywell bay. This time with a bit of colour. Notably low on the yellow, as the batteries on the LEDs were starting to go, and for some reason, yellow is always the first to drop out, turning to red. Not sure why that is.
