Live Floral Art in Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

Every year the Toowoomba Region gardeners at Laurel Bank Park plant an intricate design into their flower beds.

This time we enjoyed the floral pictures of Australian animals.

See notes on the image, and also this shot for the closer up.

I do not have a wide angle nor fisheye lens, so this pano is stitch of 6 shots, spans: 155° horizontally, 73° vertically.

A Slinky is a toy pre-compressed helical spring invented by Richard James.

It can perform a number of tricks, including travelling down a flight of steps end-over-end as it stretches and re-forms itself with the aid of gravity and its own momentum.

I kept seeing new angles, I had such fun with them. LOL

More great fun from Studio Indigo.

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)

Special Tulips, fretted and painted by nature.

Rococo Parrot Tulips, like an invitation to dance?

The base colours a fresh yellow and then, nature went to town!

Wonderful.

Thanks for your visit, always appreciated, M, (*_*)

I came across this lovely combination of colours inear Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park. This fuzzball covered in white pollen is a socially parasitic bumblebee, a gypsy's cuckoo bumblebee (Bombus bohemicus) pollinating on the flower of a woolly burdock (Arctium tomentosum).

Today was one of those days when I had no idea what I was going to shoot for my 365 photo...

This evolved from my 'props' cupboard whilst I was half-heartedly capturing reflections and bubbles in the paperweight, then liked the way the sphere distorted the lines on the background. I gave it a bit of welly in the colour department, just to make sure it got noticed... :-P

Edit: It got noticed... Best position in Explore #86!

The lobster huts are former sheds and workshops of the fishermen on the North Sea island of Heligoland. After the destruction of the Second World War and the repopulation of Heligoland in 1952, the lobster huts were designed by the Hamburg architect Georg Wellhausen. The color scheme was created by Johannes Ufer. Typical for his lobster huts are gable profiles and wooden cladding. Before the Second World War, lobster huts were non-uniform sheds in a variety of locations.

The colorful, two-story[ and listed wooden huts[4] now serve as pubs, galleries, cafés and souvenir shops; the museum association has its headquarters in lobster huts 38 and 39, and the registry office of the municipality of Heligoland also offers weddings here - the lobster huts are now considered to be typically Heligolandic.

It's an idea that I had a couple of years ago but I couldn't find the painter. I found the figurine last year but I didn't have it with me when the theme "multicolour" was announced this year. Luckily there's always a redux week......

May all your best photos be taken in 2019.

HMM.

I had a bit of a macroey day inspired by Macro Mondays' multicolour theme.

Macro Monday “multicolour”: Kate Spade bracelet, with pink, sapphire, turquoise, and “diamond” stones, finished with gold accents.

When extended, the 3 components of the bracelet measure 2.85” in length.

Killing an hour of time a couple of weeks ago whilst waiting for eldest daughter to return from her socialising shenanigans.

Test deployment of a newly constructed lightpainting tool. Reasonably pleased with the results.

I was in Dublin, Ireland for Greystones Camera Club (GCC) Street walk with Des Byrne. On my way to the Meeting point for the walk, I met this group of colourfully dressed lads. I thought they might be a Stag Party Group. They said they were over in Ireland for the Pro14 Rugby final.

Rainbow lorikeets are true parrots, within the Psittacoidea superfamily in the order Psittaciformes. The rainbow lorikeet or lorikeet (common name) is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. They are true parrots of medium-size, with the length ranging from 25 to 30 cm, including the tail. The weight varies from 75 to 157 g. The plumage of the nominate race, as with all subspecies, is very bright. The head is deep blue with a greenish-yellow nuchal collar, and the rest of the upper parts (wings, back and tail) are green. The chest is orange/yellow. The belly is deep blue, and the thighs and rump are green. In flight a yellow wing-bar contrasts clearly with the red underwing coverts. 2362
