Lots and lots people travel by train every day. Thus with the theme On the move the idea of photographing a train came on my mind. In the evening this (well medium sized) train station was getting quiet so my idea to use a long shutter time to see waves of people going in and out of the trains did not make it but not many people stood in the way of this picture.
The 509th Bomb Wing moved from Walker AFB, New Mexico, to Pease AFB, New Hampshire in 1958 when they got re-equipped with the Boeing B-47 Stratojet medium bomber (No I don't know what happenend to all those B-36s). The motto of the 509th is 'Peace is our Profession' and it was proudly displayed outside of the main gate. My father was a proud member of the 509th.

We acquired another Miehle V-50 yesterday and shipped off a Vandercook Universal III. The V-50 will join the one we already have, and the Univ. III will be refurbished for operation. Rob Barnes of Foils and Dies in Denver, along with wife Elizabeth, brought the Miehle down from Denver, and Loren Lew, my business partner, was operating the fork lift. The easiest way for loading-unloading the Vandercooks for short distances is to put the forks under the bed with forks extended to back panel of the support stand. Never use forks under the sheet metal cabinet of these as it will collapse, and there goes the press. The Univ III came out of a photoengraving shop in San Carlos, Calif. and the Miehle from a shop that recently closed in Sterling, Colorado.
