With valorie all moved in we set aside a day for her and I. I wanted to go somewhere to shoot but i had no idea where. I thought about trying to do some more sunset beach shots since our last outing didn't go so well but i decided to be closer to home so we could then go out to dinner. We made the trek to one of my favorite portrait locations whittier hills. Once again i didn't get the great oranish light from the sunset but i was able to make due with what i had. Val was in top from again and gave me so much to work with. We had a blast and even avoid being eaten alive by fire ants. Its great to have my best friend living with me because now i have my own personal live in model. Quite the fun day.

The excitement began this moring at 6:30 am when the tree removal crews came to cut down our 75-year old oak trees to make way for the relocation of a large house several blocks away.
After the trees were removed, all of the power lines, power poles, street signs and stop signs were also removed.
The move was successful if a bit slow (1/2 mile per hour at top speed). The house was moved on 16, selff-propelled, 8-wheel dollies which were designed and built by the moving company. It was stop and go so that there would be absolutely no problems with the turns and travel.
Finally, the house was put into its new location after about 8 hours of work. It was probably a once-in-a-lifetime event for us folks on Mills Avenue in Greenville, South Carolina...

This unique round 2 story house was built in 1978 by John Ward.
John had built the small hut with plans to live in it and run a farm on his land. The Government had another idea of how they would turn the area into a national park.
In the 1990s John reluctantly sold his block of land to the government and it was made part of the national park. Since then Johns home has been left abandoned and hidden away of the map.

Recently grazed paddock (right) and the paddock sheep including a guard llama were moved to the same day, with complete fence setup still in progress. Notice the relative tall canopy in the already grazed paddock to ensure minimum exposure to parasites and as much leaf material as possible for a speedy regrowth. (Image courtesy Dirk Philipp.)
