this is a happy one-day-belated birthday to my awesomely awesome sister-in-law, kris (yep, she's on flickr, too!).
she has two beautiful, amazing little boys - not that i'm biased or anything - and, thus, she is always ON THE MOVE.
her pictures show them on the beach watching birds, at home pretending to cook, going on runs with two dogs in tow, sightseeing seattle, playing with trains, having parties in the crib and bathtub, the list goes on. she runs a busy and wonderful household.
three cheers for kris AND all you parents out there with little ones underfoot! you are doing an amazing job.
We went to Sumner late in the afternoon it had been a lovely hot sunny day but things changed fast a strong wind picked up and the sand was blowing along the beach with force.. it really hurt and you had to put your back to it! January 5,2014 Sumner Christchurch New Zealand.

Sumner is nestled in a coastal valley separated from the adjacent city suburbs by rugged volcanic hill ridges that end in cliffs that descend to the sea shore in places. Sumner Bay is the first bay on the northern side of Banks Peninsula and faces Pegasus Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
Because of its ocean exposure, a high surf can form in some swell conditions. The beach is gently sloping, with fine grey sand. It is a popular surf beach for these reasons.
Sand dunes have filled the river valley behind the beach. This has made housing construction relatively easy, although flooding at the head of the valley has been a problem in the past due to the reverse slope caused by the sand dunes filling the front of the valley. This has been addressed by a flood drain.
The rocky volcanic outcrop of Cave Rock dominates the beach. Until the mid-1860s, the feature was known as Cass Rock, after the surveyor Thomas Cass.[9] There are other rocky outcrops in the area and the volcanic nature of the geology is readily apparent from several of the exposed cliffs around the valley.
A sea wall and wide esplanade have been built along the length of the beach to prevent coastal erosion.

The base of the controller. It has a USB jack for charging / pairing, and a smaller (also USB, I think) jack marked as "EXT".
Finally, it has two charging pins either side of the jacks for when it's placed in the docking station.
The last iteration for the week, back at Pikes Peak but with Pro Image 100, a film I'd not shot before. C41 kit although a bit long in the tooth was able to handle without much issue. With such a vista the Xpan was just a joy to use despite the freezing cold and winds on this 14-er. I didn't bring gloves so had to heat my hands on some tea and of course, since they were available, the requisite donuts made at the high altitude. Thanks again to those flicker-ans who continue to share their images - they are fantastic!
