Happy Monochrome Monday!

Mono Lake, California

On the West of Scotland today walking the Ayrshire Coastal Path a fantastic view over Greenan Shore in Ayr with some very attractive clouds, this shot was screaming out to be converted to mono.

I see some of my Flickr buds are posting Autumn color teasers from the last few years, so here's one, sort of.

Mono Lake, as nice as I've ever seen it.

Regards,

Steve

Wikipedia: Mono Lake (/ˈmoʊnoʊ/ MOH-noh) is a large, shallow saline soda lake in Mono County, California, formed at least 760,000 years ago as a terminal lake in an endorheic basin. The lack of an outlet causes high levels of salts to accumulate in the lake. These salts also make the lake water alkaline.

This desert lake has an unusually productive ecosystem based on brine shrimp that thrive in its waters, and provides critical habitat for two million annual migratory birds that feed on the shrimp and alkali flies.[2][3] Historically, the native Kutzadika'a people derived nutrition from the Ephydra hians pupae, which live in the shallow waters around the edge of the lake.

When the city of Los Angeles diverted water from the freshwater streams flowing into the lake, it lowered the lake level, which imperiled the migratory birds. The Mono Lake Committee formed in response and won a legal battle that forced Los Angeles to partially replenish the lake level.

Happy Mono Monday !!!

A mono conversion using Silver Efex Pro2. Much sharper than the previous colour image - 4 secs didn't allow the howling gale to rock the tripod!

Mono long exposure of the magical Talisker Bay, Skye, Scotland

What I had in mind was something pretty, light, and a little bit twee. What I got instead was a grainy mono of three balls of string. Hey ho ...

Here's a question for you, do you think it's important to have a photographic style? And if so, do you know yours? So two questions, in fact.

At Pavel's suggestion (was it a suggestion?) I have converted the previous image to mono. I quite like it but wouldn't ordinarily post both

A couple of mono converts from yesterday afternoon...

An ancient Land Rover slowly returning to it's natural environment

It was a bit wild at the coast today strong winds and big waves .So my plan of long exposures went out of the window so i had a play around with the waves bashing the prom .

A few images from the recent Wedding shoot taster session attended the other week, this time converted to mono for a bit of practice.

The original version of this shot works well both as colour or in mono. This is one mono version which I like, as I’m still to make up my mind about the final version.

Enjoy your Thursday.

Yes again Mono Lake!

It was an awesome night, with stuning colors!

A very gloomy sunset at Mono Lake with all the wildfires going on back in September. I usually go for the colorful nature shots but there's something special about this MONOchrome photo.
