With entry into World War II on the horizon, the US Army began the process of fully mechanizing their units. This included the artillery branch, which would partially equip with self-propelled artillery. At first, the US Army mounted its standard artillery piece, the 105mm howitzer, on a M3 halftrack, creating the T19. When used in combat for the first time in North Africa in 1942, the T19 was shown to be unstable when firing and vulnerable to small arms fire.
The T19 was always considered to be something of an interim design in any case, and after the United States entered the war in December 1941, the Army experimented with modifying the M3 Lee medium tank for the role. The turret was removed and replaced by an open-topped crew compartment on the hull, which mounted the 105mm. To give the crew some protection from infantry and aircraft, the former 75mm gun sponson was elevated and given a M2 .50 caliber machine gun in a pintle mount. The Army liked what it saw and ordered the experimental T32 into production as the M7.
Orders were placed by both the US Army and the British Army, which was in desperate need of self-propelled artillery vehicles. It would be the latter that took the M7 into combat for the first time at the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942. To the British, the machine gun mount looked like the pulpit in an Anglican church, so they nicknamed the M7 the "Priest." The name stuck, and even started a tradition in the British Army to name its self-propelled artillery pieces after clergy.
In the United States, production of the M7 switched to using the chassis of the M4 Sherman, as the M3 was obsolete and production was coming to an end. This gave the Priest commonality with the most common tank in the Western Allies' army. In British service, the 105mm howitzer did not use the same type of ammunition as the standard British artillery piece (the QF 25-pounder), so most of their Priests were "defrocked," with the 105mm removed; they were then turned into Kangaroo personnel carriers.
The M7 gave the US Army mobility and firepower where it was most needed: German veterans recalled just how devastating an American artillery strike could be. A battery of M7s could deliver punishing bombardments, and relocate quickly to where they were needed the most. Combined with American radiomen calling in "time on target" artillery strikes and proxmity-fused shells, and the Priest became one of the deadliest weapons in the US Army's arsenal. The M7 would see extensive service in Normandy, the Bulge, and in the Pacific, where it provided Army and Marine troops with the same firepower against the Japanese.
The M7 continued as the primary US Army self-propelled artillery piece through the Korean War; numbers of former US Army M7s were then provided to the Israeli Defense Force, which used them through the Yom Kippur War of 1973. The M109 series eventually replaced the M7 in both American and Israeli service.
This M7 is on display at the Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History at Fort Missoula, outside of Missoula, Montana. It used to be on display in front of the local National Guard armory, but was donated to the museum around 2010. It was also refurbished, as it looks a lot better than it did when I last saw it in 2005. M7s tend to be pretty plain; this one may have served in World War II, and its last duty assignment was probably with the 190th Field Artillery Regiment (Montana National Guard) at Billings.

These displays are heavily modified basis' from the vintage VF-1 fighter mode kit from ARII, a favorite subject of mine. Since there are some of these in the creative pipeline with the landing gear tucked up, I needed an appropriate way to store and present the small kits.
Foundation is the round OOB styrene display base, which carries the Macross roundel on its upper side as an engraving. This will disappear, for a more subtle look, though.
The display arm is a piece of soft 1.5mm iron wire, wrought into the base through a small hole in the base's side wall. The rest of the space is filled with some lead, fiyxed in place with white glue und finally filled up with plaster, for a good, low center of gravity.
Once dry, the outside is covered with black foam rubber - starting with a top cover, and then the side wall is wrapped up with a single strip, leaving a small gap for the wire arm. Contact glue spray and super glue have to be used for this stunt.
The material can be easily cut into shape, and coarse, dry sand paper can be used for trimming and surface finishing - the seam disappears easily, and the matt black surface looks pretty good for a neutral display.
Finally, the arm is bent into shape and the VF-1's weapon pod received a small hole in its rear end so that it fits snugly onto the wire arm.
Voilà, a simple, effective and very subtle display that can be easily bent into shape and new positions. :D
Modified rack again. You can just barely notice a p-clamp attached at the back of it so in case I ever end up hanging a saddlebag off the seat, I can move the superflash and screw it onto that.
I added a windscreen. Some modification on the height is needed so that it can fit into the batmobile

Following these instructions here, my TC-16A is now semi-functional on the d50. The TC-16A is a 1.6x teleconverter that provides Auto Focus and metering for lenses with no CPU or Autofocus. I say semi-functional because minimum and maximum aperture are set to f/1. AF works, but you cannot change the aperture setting on the camera, so all shots are wide open.
Yes, it was kind of hard to do.
After testing, I modified the butane burner to be much shorter. Instead of extending up into the firebox, I made a low profile burner that has an open slot on each side where additional air can enter the flame, and also where I am able to get quick visual feedback on the flame characteristics.

Testing out 3 different macro lenses: a Canon 18-55mm kitlens with extension tubes, a Canon 28-80mm kitlens modified with removed focus elements, and a Canon 100mm macro lens.
Subject is a Sea-Gull ST-19 mechanical chronograph movement.
Shot taken with a Canon 60d at 1/200, f/22, ISO 100, 430EX in softbox behind subject at 1/4.
This is the 28-80mm modified kitlens, at maximal zoom.
Due to the fixed focus distance of this lens after modification I can no longer focus if I put more distance between lens and subject than this.
CSX3162 is an original 427 street Cobra, built by Shelby American Inc. in 1965.
It has been modified with some semi-competition features, including side pipes, a roll bar and hood scoop.

Gli R5, il giovanissimo quintetto pop-rock USA divenuto celebre grazie alla partecipazione di alcuni suoi componenti alle serie tv “Austin & Ally”, “Teen Beach Movie” e “Glee”, arrivano in Italia dopo aver lanciato la campagna “R5 rocks the World” in collaborazione con Disney Worldwide e Youtube. L’iniziativa, che ha coinvolto oltre 45,000 fans attraverso i canali social della band, ha fatto sì che fossero proprio questi ultimi a scegliere le città nelle quali gli R5 si sarebbero esibiti in occasione del loro tour mondiale in partenza nel 2014.
Gli R5 si formano nel 2009 in California, dall’incontro dei fratelli Rydel (voce, tastiere), Riker (basso, voce), Ross (voce principale, chitarra), Rocky (chitarra, voce) Lynch con il batterista Ellington Ratliff. La popolarità della band cresce sensibilmente a partire dal 2012, quando Ross entra a far parte prima del cast della serie tv a carattere musicale “Austin & Ally” in onda su Disney Channel e successivamente interpreta il nuovo Disney Channel Original Movie “Teen Beach Movie”. Il fratello Riker diventa invece uno dei protagonisti di “Glee”.
Questo porta il quintetto a firmare un contratto con la Hollywood Records, l’etichetta del Disney Music Group per la quale realizza l’album di debutto “Louder”, che verrà pubblicato in Italia ad Aprile del 2014.
Il disco, nelle parole degli stessi R5, è “un album perfetto da suonare in auto nelle notti d’estate”: un concentrato di energia, spensieratezza e divertimento.

In 2025, NikonUSA still modifies the F6 to allow the AI tab to be swung out of the way, allowing the mounting of Pre-AI lenses. This is a 50mm f1.4 originally bought with a Nikon F Photomic TN in 1968.
I have been tossing around the idea of a S10 style T-bucket. this being the first attempt i have seen,. I see some possibilities, but dont agree with the way everything is done here
