Moderne Umgestaltung: 1973 wurde die Friedrichstraße für den Autoverkehr gesperrt und zur Fußgängerzone weiterentwickelt. Zusätzlich kann man die 1974 fertig gestellte Stadtbrücke im hinteren Teil des Bildes erkennen.
There are a few houses of this design scattered around the South Side, including this 1951 edition on Loomis. I'm a big fan of the corner windows, which hint at Deco/Moderne aesthetic, even if there are really no ornamental flourishes.

Looking at Southgate Station.
Southgate was designed by Charles Holden and opened March 1933.
The brick, concrete and glass building was designed in a Streamline Moderne style. The circular concrete roof is supported on a central column in the ticket hall.
Most New Yorkers who have made daytrips to Hudson, NY or summered nearby probably know the city for the dense cluster of boutiques specializing in antiques, vintage furniture, and design. There's generally nothing "junkshop" about the items you find for sale in these shops along on Warren Street.
