Chale no?

Moderated by Bill Flaherty, of National Grid, this first-ever “State of the Capital Region” breakfast featured a panel discussion with the presidents of the largest chambers of commerce in the Capital Region: Mark Eagan, president of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber; Linda Hillman, president of the Rensselaer County Chamber; Charles Steiner, president of the Chamber of Schenectady County; and Todd Shimkus, president of the Saratoga County Chamber.

Collectively representing more than 7,000 of the region’s employers, these four Chamber presidents discussed the state of our region’s economy and the ways they are working together collaboratively to expand economic opportunity regionally. They both looked back on the progress our region has made in 2012 as well as ahead to 2013 and beyond to explore other initiatives their organizations will be taking to help local employers succeed, grow and thrive within the Capital Region.

Wood - hard, dense, interlocked grain, durable, strong.

Cultivation details

Landscape Uses: Aggressive surface roots possible, Specimen, Street tree. Prefers a sunny position in a moderately fertile well-drained moisture-retentive circum-neutral soil. Tolerates poor soils, especially those low in mineral elements. Succeeds in most soils, including limestone. Tolerates dry soils and also drought once it is established. This species is not very hardy in Britain but it should succeed outdoors in the mildest areas of the country. Eucalyptus species have not adopted a deciduous habit and continue to grow until it is too cold for them to do so. This makes them more susceptible to damage from sudden cold snaps. If temperature fluctuations are more gradual, as in a woodland for example, the plants have the opportunity to stop growing and become dormant, thus making them more cold resistant. A deep mulch around the roots to prevent the soil from freezing also helps the trees to survive cold conditions. The members of this genus are remarkably adaptable however, there can be a dramatic increase in the hardiness of subsequent generations from the seed of survivors growing in temperate zones. Eucalyptus monocultures are an environmental disaster, they are voracious, allelopathic and encourage the worst possible attitudes to land use and conservation. Plants are shallow-rooting and, especially in windy areas, should be planted out into their permanent positions when small to ensure that they do not suffer from wind-rock. They strongly resent root disturbance and should be container grown before planting out into their permanent position. The flowers are rich in nectar and are a good bee crop. Special Features:Fragrant foliage, Not North American native, Attractive flowers or blooms.

Started out in fog and moderate winds, nearly raining, and finished with a nice sunny day! Newfoundland weather is highly variable! This is an interesting hike that takes you through barren fields of Peridotite rock, then changes to thick forest, and finishes in a lush green of mixed hardwoods and tuckamore overlooking the ocean. The trail can be hiked as a loop, and out-and-back, or a lollipop, but because of trail repair work we had a 5 mile out-and-back to the first beach.

When First bought Cawlett, there was a need to update the elderly inherited fleet. However, that saw 1978-1980 vintage VRs replaced by 1982/1983 Olympians. Hence 1824 JHU902X and 1818 LWS42Y (still in Badgerline colours) are seen with 1161 AFJ768T at Weymouth.

The irony is that the newest vehicle was withdrawn before the VR which lasted until 2004; mind you, the X reg lasted until 2008 when it was 26 years old.
