I bought this model last week, it arrived, but needed some work. I had to remove the cab and fuel bunker in order to correct their alignment. It appeared that at some point the model was dropped and the cab and fuel bunker were pushed out of alignment with the boiler. After repairing the cab and making a new cab vent, I used the blast booth to remove most of the blemishes on the brass. Then it was reassembled after an airbrush coat of clear gloss paint. The model still needs some work, but, it is coming along well I think.
This is a Gem Models O scale IC 2-4-4T that I bought as a pile of parts on Ebay a few years ago. I soldered / reassembled all the pieces to have this when completed. It runs good (O scale two rail operation.) The finish is brass paint with clear finish over raw brass.
New air tanks and air lines on the roof, new gears in the trucks, the completed models runs very well now.

The Model Railroad Series
A Pennsylvania RR passenger train is seen at the LaGrange Model Railroad Show. The cars painted in Frisco and Missouri Pacific colors indicate that this might be the Penn-Texas, a New York City-St. Louis train that forwarded cars westward on those railroads.

A few photos of the dis-assembly, cleaning and reassembly of a C&O H-7a 2-8-8-2. This model was fairly tarnished and had dark spots in the finish. It also was missing a tender step and needed a good cleaning and lube. This photo shows where the tender step was attached, only the brace remains.
I am currently starting this restoration project. These are the before photos of a Trains, Inc. and Soho Imports tender. Union Pacific gas turbine locomotive and tender, both made by Kumata (KMT) Japan. This second generation gas turbine will represent #64 equipped with the original tender when completed. The photos that I posted a few days ago of another gas turbine models represents the #61 locomotive with the round tender. See my other sets for more photos.

This little Gasoline rail car suffered from severe foam damage while stored by a previous owner. The dark areas in the first photos are where the foam deteriorated and ate through the clear coat and etched the brass itself. I had to use paint remover to remove the clear coat, then an acid bath to remove the etching from the brass (actually, re-etching the brass to a uniform finish). Afterward, a good cleaning with a wire wheel on the Dremel and a light coat of brass paint and new clear coat to keep the brass from tarnishing again. This took about two hours to do.
