After diss-assembly, the parts are placed in a tub and covered with paint remover, then rinsed to remove all of the original paint and clear coat. They are then placed in a 50/50 mix of hydrochloric acid and water. This removes the remaining film and corrosion. The parts are soaked in cold water after the acid dip, then rinsed again and allowed to air dry. After polishing the parts with a Dremel tool with a wire wheel bit, the parts are primed and painted with Floquil railroad colors. The photos of the painted parts show the paint prior to the green being applied to the top of the hood and decal work.
I bought this little logging engine on Ebay a few days ago. Made by Toby (Japan) for Northwest Shortline, these are solid models with good detail for their time. These are the photos from the Ebay listing, when it arrives, I will do some cleaning & restoration work and post some more photos.
Here are a few older HO scale brass models of articulated steam locomotives. I am not a great photographer, but, I do the best I can with what I have. All photos are of different models, even though you may see several of the same type of engine in this set. Akane Models - C&O H-8 2-6-6-6 Imported around 1960. (Simple Articulated)
Here are some various logging and mining steam locomotives in HO and HOn3 scale.
To group administrators: If I am uploading to many photos to your group and it gets annoying, please let me know, I will stop. I put the photos in the groups hoping other model railroaders will appreciate and enjoy them as much as I do.

Cast House Furnace "F" In progress. N scale.
Redesigned scratchbuilt Cast House for Furnace F which is more akin the the Furnaces at Bethlehem Steel. Furnace "E' will also receive this treatment as well.
This design is significantly steeper in slope than the kit provided cast house which in retrospect is not as prototypical.

I bought this model yesterday, I have other versions of this type of gas turbine engine, but, have always liked these engines. These are the seller's photos from the sale listing. I plan to re-power the model at some point since they are not great running models from the maker.
Former Soo Line SD60s Nos. SOO 6034 and SOO 6014 crawl over the street running section just before the diamond at RS Tower, somewhere in the Mid-West. Built for lugging coal contracts secured after the take-over of the Milwaukee Road, by CP days they were in use on more mundane drag freights and unit grain trains such as this one.
The picture was taken on RS Tower (rstower.wordpress.com) at the Andover Model Railway Exhibition on September 7th, 2008.

I bought this early hand built brass model recently. It is un-restored, but runs very well. These early hand built models are extremely rare, with only a handful in the world, for me, they are an exciting find for my collection. This model is unmarked, therefore, I am not sure who the maker was, but, I suspect it was made by Tetsudo or Kawai Models sometime between 1950 and 1955. (Sorry for the bad photos, these were the best I could get using my iphone).
N scale. Progress of Boiler House #1 extension. It is 30" or 400' in scale. Scratch built stacks and made from (4) Kraft Mills of the Superior Paper kit. Yellow portion is unfinished.
Cryo-Trans, Inc. offers the largest fleet of privately-owned, mechanically refrigerated and insulated railcars. By the end of 2018, Cryo-Trans, Inc. had more than 2,000 private railcars on the North American railway network.

Now, only awaiting a road name and number, this model is ready to go. I bought it last week on Ebay. It was in good condition except for the bad paint (check out the other photos in the set to see the before pictures). I removed the original open frame motor and installed a long flat can motor with a 13mm x 13mm brass flywheel, then removed the paint and repainted it with locomotive black and added some weathering / rust to the drive line. Here I have double headed the Vulcan with a Shay locomotive with sound.

A few photos of an early hand built HO brass PRR GG-1 Electric. I believe this to have been sold through Tetsudo's shop, but, may have been made by Kawai Models for Tetsudo.
General view of the completed model. This is Tom's original design. Since the last photo, it's been shingled, and painted. Also, moldings have been added to the cupola window. These models will be used with his model railroad diorama.
Next to it stands a small storage shed which is partially finished.
