The Saratoga and North Creek Railway was a heritage railway that began operation in July 2011. Passenger operations ceased on April 7, 2018, and the final revenue freight train to remove stored tank cars operated in May 2018.[1] The railroad ran in the upper Hudson River region of the Adirondack Mountains, in the U.S. state of New York.

This is a rare model, only 50 made by Olympia Models in the early 1960's. I was not able to purchase this model, however, I wanted to post the photos from the Ebay listing for those who may have an interest.

This is a HO scale Kato first run SD40-2 lettered for GTW / CN # 5931. This unit is non dynamic and has a NCE decoder and added details. The front headlight has been replaced with a LED and 1000 ohm resistor. The cab roof supports a Minatures by Eric horn and antenna. The underframe and trucks are painted and weathered a grimy black. Additional detailing and decals have also been added.

I bought this little logging engine on Ebay a few days ago. Made by Toby (Japan) for Northwest Shortline, these are solid models with good detail for their time. These are the photos from the Ebay listing, when it arrives, I will do some cleaning & restoration work and post some more photos.

Now, only awaiting a road name and number, this model is ready to go. I bought it last week on Ebay. It was in good condition except for the bad paint (check out the other photos in the set to see the before pictures). I removed the original open frame motor and installed a long flat can motor with a 13mm x 13mm brass flywheel, then removed the paint and repainted it with locomotive black and added some weathering / rust to the drive line.

This is a HO scale custom painted Proto unit lettered for CN road #7080. Proto's version of a CN GP9. The unit houses a Soundtrax decoder professionaly installed by Jacques Thuot. www.railways.incanada.net/Railway_Modelling/ModellerThuot... This diesel sounds great and runs perfect at any setting. The underframe is painted and weathered a grimy black and the model is lightly weathered. The dynamic break housing fan has been removed and replaced with a steel cover. A MbE horn and antenna were installed. These units have cab doors which open and close although it is best not to play with them too much. Due the problem Proto has with cracked gears on some of their units the wheelsets were replaced..

That's our camera train. Bright LED and camera in the nose! The live feed is transmitted via wireless signal to a monitor in the lobby during our Open House sessions. Hoping to post some of that footage in the near future.

What appears to be a relatively new RailBox car (TBOX 639428) has already been greeted by some graffiti experts.

So just did a little weathering on the trucks and fuel tank plus front and rear pilots. And some exhaust on the roof. That's it.

Today's find, a little B&O C-16 0-4-0T. I bought this a few days ago, it needs a little TLC, but runs fairly well. Made by Samhongsa (Korea) in 1973 for Gem Models - catalog #SH-119. These are the only brass models made of this type. Precision Scale / Boo-Rim plans a future model however.

THE OAKHILL HO RAILWAY

40 YEARS OF CONSTRUCTION

BY REG ARCHIBALD

This layout was developed from a plan taken from a Kalmbach HO gauge track planning book.

It is lengthened and the engine roundhouse has been added. The dimensions are 13.5ft/7.5ft.

The layout is wired with 12 volt dc for one train operation at a time with 2 reversing sections.

There are 20 track switches and 9 locations where trains can be stored ready to run.

Power supply is controlled by both Peco switches and toggle switches.

The control center is set up for operation both outside and inside the layout .

The buildings streets and crossings are wired for illumination.

There is 1 power supply and a train sound generator.

The 7 stall roundhouse is constructed from angled metal strips that were soldered together using a preformed jig.

I have just started restoring this Akane C&O 2-6-6-6 for my friend Sean. This is a series of photos showing how it was received (in parts), going through drive modifications and finally, paint and reassembly - The motor assembly ready to test and adjust as necessary.

I have just started restoring this Akane C&O 2-6-6-6 for my friend Sean. This is a series of photos showing how it was received (in parts), going through drive modifications and finally, paint and reassembly - Here, the motor is mounted by two screws in the gear tower, and two screws in the motor case. It has been shimmed and lined up with the worm shaft and finally a piece of neoprene tubing is connected to the shafts.

A few photos of some old, but significant historical models from the dawn of scale brass models. These mid 1950's PFM / Tenshodo brass models were among the first brass Diesel locomotives to be imported to the USA. They were also the first factory painted models to be issued.

This set is an oddball. Tenshodo issued the F-9 A, F-9 B and F-9 A-B sets in factory painted Southern Pacific road scheme, however, according the the records, the F-7 was never issued in the SP road name. Clearly, the box indicates F-7 in SP, and the model is a factory painted F-7. I was unable to find any listing for this set in the PFM (importer's) book or any of the brass locomotive price guides. All list the F-7 A-B sets in AT&SF, CN, C&O, NYC, Southern RR & UP (UP not imported by PFM).

This is a Custom Brass New York Central P-2A Electric Locomotive in HO scale that I bought recently. I spent this weekend repairing it. It was a basket case and was missing some parts. I still have to find a pantograph shoe for the roof to complete it, but, now it looks much better and runs very well.
