After a long absence on Flickr...i finally can show u some new work. I am totally into painting again! I needed some time to do just nothing. After some disappointing experiences... i had lost it. But i made a come back that is stronger then ever. I am totally focussed on my goals. I'll finish every piece... which is f**king awsome!
This cake was inspired by the invitation I received from the client. She wanted sparkles and lots of mermaids. Hope you like it!

Mermaid Dotees of my own design. I've been having fun making Dotees, but I've fallen in love with these!
The hair is composed of my own handspun wool yarns, DMC pearlescent effects embroidery floss (a real pain to work with), sea green nylon thread and some textured cotton weaving yarn, all strung here and there with beads. I love the effect this mix of yarn and thread gives!

The City's literature say the mermaid decided to stay after stopping on a riverbank near the Old Town. Fishermen noticed something was creating waves, tangling nets, and releasing their fish. They planned to trap the animal, then heard her singing and fell in love. A rich merchant trapped and inprisoned the mermaid. Hearing her cries, the fishermen rescued her. Ever since the mermaid, armed with a sword and a shield, has been ready to help protect the city and its residents.
Sometimes this legend is expanded to say the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen is the Warsaw mermaid's sister and they went separate ways from the Baltic Sea.
Another states she helped a prince lost hunting and he founded the city in her honour.
The sculpture in Warsaw's Old Town Square was designed by Varsovian sculptor Konstanty Hegel.
Originally (1855-1928) and now (since 2000) it stands in the marketplace. At other times, it was moved to different places in Warsaw. In 2008, the original sculpture made of bronzed zinc was taken from the market for maintenance work. The sculpture was in a very poor condition due to mechanical damage and numerous acts of vandalism. The repaired original was transferred to the Museum of Warsaw, and replaced with a copy of made by the Jacek Guzera foundry in Dąbrowie near Kielce.

Mermaid street . . . Rye . . . East Sussex.
mermaid street is a steep cobbled street with a mix of Medieval timber framed and more recent Georgian houses.
One of the oldest buildings in Rye is the Mermaid Inn whose cellars date back to 1156. Much of Rye town and the Mermaid Inn was destroyed by fire after an invasion by the French in 1377 the Inn as it stands now was rebuilt in 1421.

Mermaid Street, Rye, Sussex, England. At the end of pleasant afternoon walking around Rye I caught this shot. Just behind where I was standing is the Mermaid Inn, rebuilt in 1420 and with cellars dating to 1156. Sadly I didn't know its history at the time so I don't have any photos of the inn itself.
