"A fisherman and his son are out on the sea at night. His son falls asleep while his father continues to sail. Soon, though, a soft call from the waves catches his attention. Numb and entranced, he solemnly wanders to the edge of the boat, embracing how the waves take him under.
The son, after a few hours, wakes up to see his father gone. He frantically looks over to see if he's fallen, and sees a woman watching him from below. She is more beautiful than Aphrodite herself, and had eyes that soothed even the most frightening of creatures. She smiles, and begins to sing her tune to the child. However, no matter how loud she sang or how melodic her voice was, the boy just stared at her quizzically. Confused, she reaches to the surface, asking him if he can hear her. The boy stares back at her, unsure of what she's saying, and only replies with hand gestures.
The mermaid now understands why he doesn't follow her call: he is deaf. Sweetly, she holds her arms out towards him, touching his ears gently. The child felt her fingers almost vibrate, and soon the boy could slowly start hearing a low rumble. Then, the distant sound of the water moving to and fro reached his ears. He smiles, amazed that he can hear for the first time in his life. He gestures a thank you to his mermaid friend, and she simply smiles back.
The beauty of the deep begins her call once more, seeing the child become fastened still in place. His eyes glazed over, and began walking closer to his helper. The mermaid continues her lulling tune, and warmly holds the child close, before dragging him to the depths."

The king Albatross,

Begin his majestic spiral of anticipation.
Upon the ocean they float together.
Her ivory comb preening his weathered feathers.
Opening her shell, she beckons him.
Eat the nectar from the garden of darkness.
Spreading mighty wings,
Sea breezes lift him over her,
Sunlight flickers through feathers,
Shadows whisk its touch,
Her skin undulates in ecstasy,
And she sings a song she never knew.
Closing her shell,
New life within.

So west end released this new single pose set for Uber, and it's like a contortionist type of set, very funky and unique, I wanted to find the right style to go with it, and after days of trying several outfits and sets it just clique: I live surrounded by water in this amazing paradise my friend Ketan created! -
The Blushing Caye -(which you can totally go visit, snap photos, and share it in the flicker group.. 😍) And I said it would be super cool to be coming out of the water cause the hand positions are so beautiful, and being as obsessed as I am with the new Lagyo set had to feature that gorgeous facepiece and makeup by Velour Beauty.

Are we listening? That’s a good question. Many people hear what others are saying, but they don’t process it because they are not listening.
If one were to take a moment and listen to all the things around us, would it change us? Would it change the way we think? Perhaps it would, and perhaps that is why many chose not to . . ..
I must have picked this up from a beach many years ago, I thought it was very special to have such a thing.
It's a small one, 2" long without the "strings" or whatever you call these.
I put this on frosted glass which is balanced on a drinking glass which in turn was placed on a soft light. I took one picture without the drinking glass but it looked boring. So there you go.

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for Friday the 27th of February is "dried plants". In my library of antiquarian books, I have a few albums of tobacco cards and one very interesting dark green leather volume embossed with gilded letters, declaring it to be a book of sea weeds, ferns and flowers, which I bought at an auction many years ago. Entered into a Women's Work Exhibition in the late 1800s by Helen Stead, the book consists of fifty pages of the most beautifully pressed and catalogued seaweed specimens, each with their botanical names written in an elegant hand in pencil in the corner of every page. Because the book sits closed, and has for over a century, except for the occasional turning of the pages by its owner, the seaweeds still retain the most vibrant of colours. Therefore, when the theme was announced, although I press flowers profusely, and have some lovely examples between the pages of many of my books, I could not look past this wonderful book by Helen Stead, created for a Women's Work Exhibition more than a hundred years ago. The page I chose features a very delicate dried and pressed example of Dasyphilia - which is a term related to a genus of red algae (Rhodophyta) in the family Ceramiaceae, specifically Dasyphilia plumarioides. I have added to it for my own interest and amusement, a business card, advertising Mrs. G. P. Stanton's Millinery and Fancy Goods (haberdashery) of Norwich in Connecticut, from around the same time as Helen Stead's amazing book of seaweed specimens. I added the business card because it features a wonderful chromolithographed image of beautiful shells, seaweed and two mermaids, which got me to thinking that this Dasyphilia seaweed would make a wonderful feathery plume for a mermaid's hat! I hope you like my choice for this week's theme, and that it makes you smile!
By the way, after extensive research, I could not find anything about the creator of the wonderful book of pressed, dried seaweed specimens, Helen Stead, but I do know that her painstaking efforts won her a five pound award for her submission!
