A pair of SW10s break and build trains in Union Pacific's North Yard in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 21, 1996. Big changes were on the way with regard to train routing after the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific merged on Sept. 11th of the same year.

This camphor tree is supposed to be more than 600 years old, which means it had been already here when the shrine was constructed. The rope with paper ornaments around the trunk implies it is special and sacred.

Kusunoki (Camphor, Cinnamomum camphora) is an evergreen broadleaf tree. It is not native to Japan but supposed to have been introduced from southern Asia. It is often used to carve Buddhist statues.

Decided to try my hand at a merged photo. Bonsai rock was not very well lit so took a photo before night and then merged it with the night sky.

A forgotten composition from last November which has recently become more appealing to me so I though I’d give processing a go. Obviously the composition looked ok while I was on location but other photographs from a really sublime morning had more appeal, particularly one which I really love and is pinned on top of my gallery together with my much missed beloved dogs. The foreground looks a bit messy but I was taken by how the concrete slaps merged to a point, what do you think. Maybe a better image black and white my usual take on manmade carbuncle’s.

"This show is dedicated to my good friend Amona Savira, who left us earlier this year quite unexpectedly. Her passing was an absolute shock to me but sadly it was just one of a few losses I suffered this year. When Kate asked me to fill in this show slot that had been intended for Amona, I was happy to try and do it justice, even though other pressures didn't seem to want me to complete it. I think what I experienced this year with all the events in my life, is that regardless of how tragic and harsh things can be, you cannot let things consume you and paralyze you. Suffering, remorse, sadness are all healthy emotions but they must not take over your life. Keeping things in perspective and getting back to the business of living your life can be hard but must be a priority. It's hard and you can get lost. I know because I did get lost a bit this year. I know you all have experienced these things your self, this shoot was a bit of therapy for me. Thanks, Dr. Kate!"

The Andean squirrel (Sciurus pucheranii) is a tree squirrel endemic to Colombia.

The Andean squirrel is a typical tree squirrel, in its general proportions resembling the Eastern grey squirrel of North America. However, it is much smaller, with a body length of only about 14 centimetres (5.5 in), and a 12 to 16 centimetres (4.7 to 6.3 in) tail. It has soft, silky, reddish-brown fur over most of the body, merging to greyish-yellow on the underparts. The tail fur is darker than that on the body,

It inhabits montane rain forest and cloud forests of the Cordillera Occidental and Cordillera Central of the Colombian Andes, at elevations between 2,000 and 3,300 metres (6,600 and 10,800 ft). As a tree squirrel, it lives among Cecropia trees, palms, and tree ferns. It is believed to be diurnal, but sufficiently little is known about its habits, population, and habitat requirements, that it is currently listed as data deficient by the IUCN.

I've been going through my Canadian photos recently and noticed a few photos that I hadn't merged into a panorama which I have now done. The merge was done with Lightroom CC.

I headed up to Round Bald yesterday morning to capture the first snowfall. I got up on the mountain extra early hoping to capture some starlight and then maybe a nice sunrise later (I know I was being pretty optimistic) unfortunately the mountain stayed soaked in the clouds all morning.

I finally gave up on the mountain clearing off and started back home. On the way home I saw this beautiful scene and had to turn around and find somewhere to capture it. I tried looking on Google Earth but could never find the name, but I'm pretty sure this is Fork Mountain which sets just to the south of the Roan.

This panorama is merged by six photos in a row.
