Merced River. Yosemite NP

This is a merge of several lightning pictures i made of the storm that passed over Deventer, The Netherlands tonight.

Feels weird to shoot my own car but its going through some changes soon so I wanted pics as it is now. I was meaning to do the whole set but I'm not liking the statics at all so a reshoot later maybe.

I must of bumped the zoom ring on the lens between exposures so editing this one was a bitch. There should be a zoom lock!!!

Poem.

Salmon-pink sky, silhouetted headlands and an islanded, silver-studded lake branded by the sun.

Five and twenty miles away, virtually lost in the evening ozone, the islands of Eigg and Rum fade upwards in the glare, to oblivion.

Here on the northern slopes of Morar, sheep graze, unmindful of the blinding, dazzling sunset.

Pine-fringed islands lead the eye sea-wards where a two mile river gushes the lake into Morar Bay – a white-sand haven.

Here at a five hundred foot elevation the path turns northwards linking Morar – a nearly fjord, to Nevis, a real fjord.

Mountains interspersed by east-west stretches of sea-water typify this remarkable coastline.

Bounded by fifty beaches and islands the perspectives are breath-taking at every twist and turn.

A shimmering haze suspends the senses, time seems to slow and the moment stretches, like Dali-esque “floppy” clocks.

Space, time and reality blur and merge, soothing the senses.

The moment passes, but for that moment,

Karma, Nirvana, Paradise.

An unique spot where local roadsystem and the railroad merge into a joint road, or so it seems......

Where’s the fault in the Photo?

Jupp you’re right, Big Ben and The London Eye are on opposite Parts of the Westminster Bridge. But as nice as cameras are, the talented user can merge both sights together. I am not talking of merging it together in Photoshop!

What I did here was using the 30s mode. The first 15 seconds I pointed the camera on The London Eye, the next 15 seconds I quickly turned my Tripod around and shot the Big Ben.

If you ever plan to try it bring your lenscap. If you don’t install it whilst turning your camera the whole image will get blurry. You might not want to have it. Also it is hard to get the right detail here because the mirror doesn’t let any light come into your view finder… Think of that, it is important, too!

I hope you like it and get inspired to try some far away from Mainstream things!

Bye bye Flickr!

Probably one of the most popular images of North Macedonia is the church of Saint Clement and Pantaleimon. On top of the Plaosnik hill the landscape is amazing. At the back of this millennium church is possible to see the waters of the lake, so calm and blue that merges with the distant mountains in the back. Just a few minutes walk through pine forest and gardens is the city of Ohrid, one of the holiest places in the Balkans. This building is one of the oldest churches in the region and probably the beginning of the Slavic language.

Don't know why we choose the middle of a 95° day in August, but we did it. Here is a three shot merge from under South Falls in Silver Falls State Park. Enjoy!

I decided to return to the Lake & Wells Streets parking garage in order to capture this shot. My Manfrotto Magic Arm (thanks Chris) allowed me to position the camera much further out over the ledge than a tripod would have. An ND filter allowed me to slow the shutter down. You're looking at 2 layered shots of course.
