Bologna "la Rossa" ("the Red", an epithet evidently due to more than its left-leaning politics) seen from the roof of the medieval tower Torre Prendiparte.

The tower, bastion and symbol of power of the Prendiparte family in the Middle Ages, is still today private property. It is currently rent as an exclusive bed-and-breakfast residence for no more than one couple of guests at a time. Entrance hall, bedroom, kitchen, dining room and other (narrow) spaces are connected by steep stairs in a vertiginous vertical sequence, finally leading to the rooftop panoramic terrace 60 meters above ground.

It is well known now as Shakespeare's phrase "The Darling Buds of May" was used as the title for his novel by H.E. Bates... which has since been adapted for television too 😊

Apologies for using my Japanese plum in 3 successive photos - I am enjoying it before it freezes (-2.6c last night)

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm'd;

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;

Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

I could not pass-up photographing the Milky Way Galactic Core at Joshua Tree N.P. The sun set early and the galactic center was visible by 7:30 p.m. in October. I was able to take several images before being spooked by curious coyotes. Here, I took two pano shots and used a flash light set at a low level to illuminate the foreground. There was a fair amount of light pollution in the background and two Orionid meteors made appearances during the exposures. Used Lightroom and Photoshop to merge and develop the images. Hope you enjoy!

This was an HDR merge of 3 images at EV 0, EV -2, and EV -4. It looks like I'll have to go to EV -6 or lower to retain the details of the moon's surface.

Sandhill Cranes are so interesting to watch. Looks like they have their own following as well. Did a little pano merging, it is a little flawed if you look closely.

This panorama was merged from 3 hand held shots taken with the Biogon 2.8/25 at the Nikon Z7. First snow was gracing the landscape at lake Eibsee. We can take a look to the massif of Zugspitze behind the lake with the summit of Zugspitze at the right which is the highest mountain of the chain.

A graphic perspective of a building design.

I was Drawn to this because of the light, shadows and angles of the building. I liked the merge of metal and glass. Color did it no justice.
