Built in 1999, the RMS Rahm is registered in St John's, Antiqua Barbuda. She's shown here coming through early morning fog in the Holy Loch prior to going alongside to load a cargo of logs.
Very rough sea today, so I spent most of my time over at Donmouth Nature reserve capturing the weather impacts from the “Beast From The East “ and the impacts its had on the coastline though popped down to the harbour before heading home, I only managed to capture some shots around Footdee and Aberdeen Beach coastline, only vessel that I could get access to at the harbour was Pacific Leader, I have captured her many times before though never on this berth .

ex-SR Rebuilt Merchant Navy, 35028 'Clan Line' makes easy work of the climb away from Goodrington Sands with the Torbay Express (1Z27 08.00 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear) on 19th August 2018.
Rebuilt SR Merchant Navy 4-6-2 35014 NEDERLAND LINE leaving Basingstoke with the northbound "Pines Express" (Bournemouth-Manchester).
The loco was built by the Southern Railway at Eastleigh in 1945 and rebuilt in 1956. Allocated to Nine Elms shed (70A). 12/09/1964 [GB 022].
The 'light' and 'heavy' Bulleid pacifics are represented by 34046 'Braunton' and 35028 'Clan Line' at Clapham Junction.

The BR built (December 1948 & rebuilt January 1957) "Pacific" survived in BR service until 23/06/1967. It is though to have been broken up by Cashmore's of Newport on or after September 1967.

The next of Dad's rolled up negs and again taken between the 18th and 21st of June 1964 I think.
This time we have Merchant Navy 35016 Elders Fyffes running into Waterloo.
New as 21C16 in March 1945 the loco was Nine Elms based at this time and was withdrawn from Weymouth Radipole in August 1965.

Ex Southern Railways Merchant Navy class No. 35018 "British India Line" storms through Docker hauling the Winter Cumbrian Mountain express to Carlsile.

The rusting remains of Merchant Navy class 35011 General Steam Navigation at Binbrook. The loco has now been moved and is undergoing restoration into unrebuilt form
The MV Silver Wind was launched and entered service in 1995. By current standards, she is consider a small cruise ship, albeit a very luxury one.
Preserved SR/BR Bulleid 'Merchant Navy' pacific 35028 ''Clan Line'' at Hereford station on a wet day in October 1977, with the 'Midland Jubilee' railtour, from Euston. LMS 'Princess Royal' class pacific 6201 ''Princess Elizabeth'' is waiting on the left, after bringing the train in from Craven Arms, with a BR Derby DMU behind..
This was one of two co-ordinated 'Jubilee' railtours on that day, the other being the ''Western Jubilee'' from Paddington, with these locos used - at different times - on both, but in the reverse direction.
These tours were repeated on two dates in October 1977, to commemorate the Queens' Silver Jubilee.
Today (2018) ''Clan Line'' is in operation on UK railtours, based at Stewarts Lane depot. ''Princess Elizabeth'' was withdrawn from operation in 2016 with boiler problems, and is awaiting repairs.

Designed to transport, lift and install wind turbines and their foundations, she is the world’s most advanced and most efficient of this type of vessel, in terms of jacking speed, deck space, lifting capacity and positioning capabilities. She was built in 2011 and is registered in the Netherlands.
Another of dads photo's I can't match with a notebook but that its probably between June 18th and 21st 1964 when he made a London Trip that was covered in a note book he subsequently lost.
Location is Waterloo and the Loco is Merchant Navy 35012 United States Lines which looks to be backing out of the Station although the tender appears to be full.
New in January 1945 as 21C12 and a Nine Ems loco at the time it was withdrawn in April 1967.

A rainy day. The farmer is using this flock to clear the field prior to ploughing for the spring sowing. This section looks about done as Bulleid 'Merchant Navy' pacific 35028 'Clan Line' pounds past Brockham on the climb to Betchworth summit with the Belmond British Pullman. This was her first run since being overhauled.
SR Merchant Navy Class no.35018 'British India Line' made a welcome return this month to the Southern Region for the first time since 1964. Having been in store until 2003 at the Mid Hants Railway ever since it was bought from Barry Scrapyard, the loco was then moved to the Isle of Purbeck from which it finally went to West Coast Railways at Carnforth for restoration in 2012. The loco returned to steam in 2017 but has mainly been confined to the North West before operating two charters in July to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the end of Southern steam.
Just managing to dodge the shadows, 35018 'British India Line' makes a fine sight as it powers passed Battledown Flyover with 1Z82 08:46 London Victoria to Weymouth Railway Touring Company's 'Bournemouth Belle' on 6th July 2019. WCRC class 47 no.47802 was on the rear for the return leg from Weymouth to Southampton.
Please note: despite appearances this was taken from the correct side of the fence as it moves closer to the running line where I was stood.
Another of Dad's on the 19th of September 1964 and Merchant Navy 35014 Nederland Line is waiting to depart from Waterloo.
New to the Southern as 21C14 in February 1945 she still carries a 70A Nine Elms shed plate although my source (BR database) has her moving to Weymouth Radipole 5 days previously. Withdrawl was from Weymouth in March 1967 and cutting up at Cashmore's six months later.
Lacking connecting rods and nameplate but otherwise almost complete Southern rebuilt Bulleid Merchant Navy pacific 35011 General Steam Navigation awaits its fate in Woodham's scrapyard in Barry, South Wales.
35011 was built at Eastleigh by the Southern Railway in December 1944 and was withdrawn by British Railways from Bournemouth shed in February 1966, arriving in Barry shortly after in June 1966.
Fortunately its fate was to be saved for preservation leaving the yard in 1989 as the 201st loco to depart. However it has been a long drag and it is still not restored, currently being kept at Hope Farm, Sellindge. For further details see: www.35011gsn.co.uk/news/march-2016-update

Eastleigh loco works erecting shop in October 1964, with Merchant Navy pacific 35004 ''Cunard White Star'' on the right, and ex-Crosti 2-10-0 92028 behind, and 4MT 2-6-4T 80084 in the background.
In typical BR fashion, 35004 has a newly-applied number, with the rest of the cab left grubby. 92028 has a newly-cast smokebox numberplate, still unpainted..
35004 was withdrawn in October 1965, and scrapped in February 1966. 92928 was withdrawn in October 1966, and scrapped in January 1967. 80084 was withdrawn in June 1965, and scrapped in October.
None of the ex-Crosti 9Fs were preserved, but eleven MN pacifics have survived, and fifteen of the BR Standard 4MT tanks..
Parts of Eastleigh works are still in operation today (2023) for overhaul and maintenance of EMUs and locos.

These are my dads old photos of the Saldanha from his merchant navy days over 50 years ago. They are scanned Kodachrome slides from 1963/64, all in remarkably good condition for photos some half a century old. I think most of them were taken in Japanese docks. I love this photo, Its almost like someones parked the Saldanha in a carpark (love the vintage cars).
From what I gather the Saldanha (8,995 ton) was built in 1959, it was launched as the Sunny Queen but once purchased it was renamed "Saldanha". It was sold and renamed a few times before being deleted from register in 1993.
The 'UK Railtours' pre-Christmas working from London Victoria to Sherborne (for a carol concert), saw Bulleid 'Merchant Navy' pacific 35028 'Clan Line' away from its main duty hauling the 'Belmond Pullman' and at the head of a 12 coach train on the gentle climb to Brookwood, Surrey.
The train had been booked to run down the fast line all the way from Woking to Basingstoke, but major disruption at Woking caused by a failed train at platform 5 meant that it was sent down the slow line as far as Brookwood, where it crossed to the fast line.
ex-SR Rebuilt Bulleid Merchant Navy class, 35028 'Clan Line' is working hard as she emerges from Whiteball Tunnel with the Torbay Express railtour on 20th August 2017.

34018, British India Line heads back to Kings Lynn having visited Melton Mowbray with the Nigel Dobbins memorial train. Seen at Uffington (Lincs).
This beauty has berthed in the harbour for over a week now , it is one of the more difficult quays to get a decent photo of ships while stationed there, however on my way back from Torry Battery I managed to get this shot with my Nikkor 28-300 pushed to its max, hence not one of my best photos though at least I have a new addition to my fleet collection .
