Lineated barbet, Takur Kukup, Megalaima lineata
The lineated barbet (Megalaima lineata) is a large barbet found throughout Peninsular Malaysia. Like other barbets this species is a frugivore. They primarily feed on fruits, but will also eat a wide range of insects and flowers. In nests inside holes bored into tree trunks. They nest in tree holes and the female usually lay 2 eggs, incubated for 13 to 15 days.

Endemic to the forest areas of the Western Ghats and adjoining hills, the White-cheeked Barbet has a distinctive supercilium and a broad white cheek stripe below the eye. Like many other barbets of Asia, these are green, sit still, and perch upright. These Barbets are arboreal and will rarely visit the ground. They obtain most of the water they need from their fruit diet. When water is available in a tree hole, they will sometimes drink and bathe. These birds are mostly frugivorous, but will take winged termites and other insects opportunistically. They feed on the fruits of various Ficus species. When foraging they are quite aggressive and will attempt to chase off other Barbets, Koels and any other frugivores. This bird is seen perched on a Drumstick Tree growing in the backyard, soaking in the light of the setting sun.
A Copper-smith Barbet (Megalaima haemacephala) was looking at my big camouflaged tele with curiosity. After a long wait suddenly it came on a branch right next to me. It was a pleasure to frame it up close. The colours looked gorgeous under the Sun. Pics was taken from Santragachi, West Bengal, India.

Barbets call during the heat of the day, this one having a monotonous metallic call and though we heard them a number of times, this was the only one I saw

A White-cheeked Barbet greedily eying a Custard Apple. This is a species of barbet found in southern India. It is very similar to the more widespread brown-headed barbet. It is endemic to the forest areas of the Western Ghats and adjoining hills and is commonly found in the backyard. Like all other Asian barbets they are mainly frugivorous although they may sometimes eat insects and they use their bills to excavate nest cavities in trees.
