At Casey Elementary School on Camp Casey Jan. 14, students and parents take part in the school's second annual Math Madness workshop, which aimed to build math proficiency by using games and other activities to make the subject enjoyable for youngsters. This is my first challenge for Project Quilting Season 11. With the theme of math, I immediately thought of paper piecing because of it's precision, order and numbering. I found this simple mountain pattern (triangle) and worked it into a pillow cover.

So that's when the rot set in! We never had anything like that when I was doing O level Maths. Small wonder there's a whole generation now incapable of doing even the simplest of sums without a calculator!

Well, it is, indeed, Tuesday. And on Tuesdays, I generally tutor back-to-back math kiddos. I did that today, though with the holiday week it was morning, rather than evening (kinda nice).
My second hour of math was with my algebra scholar and we were working on systems of linear equations with three variables. We did 7 systems as well as reviewing some concepts she continues to work on from the units previous to this one. I will see her again on Friday this week and I left her with four systems (translation for those who blessedly do not have the nerd mutation: groups of three or more equations where you have to manipulate all the equations to solve for all the variables given) left to solve still. Told her we would go over those on Friday
Then I did some Thanksgiving pie-supply shopping and got home a bit late for lunch. As I munched on some kale and a sandwich I decided to solve those systems for myself. You know, for relaxing fun while I ate lunch.
This is what I do for fun now. We call that Tuesday here.

T's new math concept, which we will be working on for several weeks, is dividing quantities equally. today we will be serving cookies to teddy and sketchy; T wanted to set the table first. he decided to set a place for himself, which made the activity more difficult as he has been dividing quantities among only two up to this point.
