in fifth grade, i won a state math award. i also had to take the PSAT that year, that sucked. in middle school, i was one of those kids who had to be shuttled to the high school for math courses. i pretty much kicked the math sections' ass on the ACT then got a perfect score on the IL Prairie State (granted the Prairie State exam is a JOKE. Ex: "Billy has 2 dollars in quarters. He buys gum for 50 cents. How many quarters does he have left?" AND THEY LET YOU USE A CALCULATOR. yet, some people still didn't meet "state expectations". what in the world?!?)
moral of the story: i have always hated math, yet it's always been my best subject. that's what i like to call irony.

Unlike the previous type of sheets, these were used mainly in lessons. They were used with a lower group of Year 8 pupils who didn't like maths as a rule but were quite keen to find the solution to the sheets. Each completed sheet produced a funny book title, a riddle, a joke or the like.
Though the sheets were used for lower secondary pupils, able top junior children were quite capable of doing several of the sheets.
Once again the ideal would be to find a publisher who would be interested in using the sheets in a photocopiable booklet that could be cheaply produced. There are quite a lot of different sheets as I tended to use one a week.

T's new math concept, which we will be working on for several weeks, is dividing quantities equally. today we will be serving cookies to teddy and sketchy; T wanted to set the table first. he decided to set a place for himself, which made the activity more difficult as he has been dividing quantities among only two up to this point.
