Although its highly metallic black finish is very un 1930's the rest of the Matchbox 1932 Ford Pick-Up appears pretty stock. Not usually my era of interest but wonderfully cast with crisp neat front detailing and riding on chrome disc wheels. Being part of the latest Moving Parts series ensures its front doors open. Mint and boxed.

A recent casting first introduced in the "premium" Collectors line much to the joy of many collectors who not only appreciated its subject choice but also its general execution. Things go a touch downmarket for its Moving Parts debut though in essence the only thing it misses out on are fancier wheels with separate rubber tyres.

I remember seeing a lot of this generation Toyota MR2 in all white, in fact the same with the first generation too so its definitely a sensible choice of colour.

Sourced recently from BTL Miniatures.

From the top of my head I can think of only Guisval, Majorette and Siku, though of course there may be others, who modelled the VW Golf MK3 in 1/64 scale and they were all the three door version. Its possible this brand new Matchbox Moving Parts casting is the first time we've seen one in five door form.

You just knew this was going to be eagerly awaited and it doesn't disappoint. In fact when I first released it from its packaging I had to check whether its baseplate was made of metal as it feels satisfyingly heavy.

Matchbox have done a truly superb job here and got the shape and detailing just right and i'm loving its era appropriate metallic maroon finish. Some collectors have been dismayed at its two rear exhausts as that isn't accurate but I can't say I would have noticed had it not been pointed out, its designed to be a pocket money toy and exhaust authenticity isn't really a top priority ;-p

This veteran Landy is at home here in the wilds of the countryside. Looking a bit worse for wear but still working hard. Carrying all one needs for a long overland haul to somewhere amazing.

Matchbox built their models to last and this one is over 50 years old. Looks like it has had a great life providing enjoyment to kids for many years. Now retired from being played with and living out its remaining years in a collection.

The last batch of Matchbox for 2025 has appeared here in the UK at pretty much the same time as its sister brand Hot Wheels and if you are lucky you'll probably find it in the likes of Poundland and Tescotainer. I have found remnants in a Poundland in a different area to where I live but thankfully obtained a full 24 count case from across the Atlantic which includes two of the brand new 2024 Subaru WRX S4 STI.

Not a car which is available here in the UK unfortunately but still great to see one in miniature and by my favourite diecast brand. Typical for Matchbox these days its size is probably a bit too small for its own good but theres absolutely no complaints regarding its paint quality and intricately detailed front and rear features.

Finally have enough shelf space to get them all unboxed.

The semi premium Collectors series are sadly not available at Tesco despite the huge potential for extra sales they would bring. Distinctly separate from the basic mainline with better wheels riding on soft rubber tyres and usually opening parts too along with stylised packaging too. No metal baseplates unlike their Hot Wheels counterparts but just as appealing.

This 1964 Chevrolet C10 Longbed is a brand new casting for 2022 which Matchbox have given a beaten up rusty appearance which works really well. Mint and boxed.

Latest Case E recolour of the Matchbox 1971 VW-Porsche 914 with its glossy deep red paintwork set off nicely by its chrome disc wheels. Its bumpers however are normally of the grey plastic kind hence this example got some much needed Molotow chrome. Mint and boxed.

The never ending new releases of Matchbox Moving Parts never fails to delight even if they aren't actually officially available here in the UK. A truly wonderful selection of classic vehicles from around the World as well as modern metal too, all having some form of opening features and sensibly priced as they aren't considered "premium" releases.

What an absolute joy their new 1957 Ford Country Sedan is, a perfect alternative to their basic mainline Custom 500 which screams 50's Americana. A pleasing vibrant colour combination plus no skimping on the chrome either!

Well the UK Matchbox come back continues with yet another retailer now stocking the brand and one who I believe have never sold them before. B&M Bargains is the latest retailer to get on board after the exclusivity deal with Tesco thankfully ended in January.

The biggest surprise is they are being sold for a very reasonable 1.79 each AND that its the very latest Case D assortment too! Getting over that shock its time to enjoy the brand new 2016 Nissan Sentra, a car so dull but worthy its actually getting many collectors excited, even in countries where the real car has never been sold. Boring is clearly good especially when it looks as stock and as normal as this casting which at least benefits from lots of front and rear tampo detailing and a glossy metallic blue finish.

The Matchbox MBX Wagons five vehicle set was a must have assortment back in mid 2022 yet annoyingly it never showed up in the UK. I did find some in Spain and France but was really looking forward to finding more on the pegs of Tesco.

By the miracles of Mattel product planning this exact same set returns for 2023 only this time not only is it appearing at Tesco but also at Morrisons too.

A successful choice of castings including one of my all time favourite Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser which still looks classic MBX with its healthy dose of chrome.

Found recently at Tesco.

Lack of interior controversy aside I still very much admire the new Matchbox Bentley Bentayga as a model, detailing and concept wise. Maybe one day it will be in some kind of premium set which necessitates an interior but in all honesty at this price point its not too disappointing though I know many collectors would disagree with me. WOW! I'm so glad Matchbox have brought back this beautiful classic 1969 Volvo P1800S casting. Much missed and much appreciated with its origins dating back nearly a decade to when Matchbox were really upping their game. The casting has survived savage cost cutting with only the lack of VUM being the most obvious sign but one easily corrected here with a Molotow pen. Deep and glossy metallic paint work, chrome disc wheels and full front and rear detailing. Matchbox bliss!

Part of the new Highway Speeders five vehicle set. Mint and boxed.

Giving off a touch of the Optimus Prime vibes with this brand new Matchbox 1979 Freightliner FLT American truck. Debuting in the premium Collectors series though i'm sure will filter down to other ranges too, it automatically benefits from a much higher level of detailing and chrome content.

Obviously there is also a high plastic content though the casting itself still appears weighty and substantial.
