Masters store located near the Toorak Road-Auburn Road intersection which is one of 18 stores in Victoria for the Woolworths-Lowes (USA) joint venture in hardware. Opened in April 2013 it was built on a long abandoned gasworks site adjoining the now busy Monash Freeway with the compact site meaning it was provided with underground car parking. Heavy losses against incumbent rival Bunnings in part due to an aggressive expansion (often next to Bunnings stores) and low sales have seen Woolworths abandon the category altogether and announce closure of the chain by early December 2016 with a liquidation sale starting August of the year. These shots were taken early in the closing down sale.
The stores (including several development sites) have been sold to Home Consortium who will reconfigure the sites to a combination of Spotlight, Anaconda, JB Hi Fi, The Good Guys and Woolworths supermarkets. Rival Bunnings will take over 15 of the 61 stores open. Liquidation is being carried out by the Great American Group with evidence seen in the large 'STORE CLOSING' and 'GOING OUT OF BUSINESS' signs more commonly seen in the closing of large stores in the United States.
Light switches and examples of the Australian 240V power point or more correctly 'General Purpose Outlet (GPO)'. The Australian standard actually originated as an obsolete three pin version of the American two pin socket with 220V/240V provision for larger appliances which was quickly abandoned in North America due to its incompatibility with the 110V/120V two parallel pin plug in use today. The use of flat pins was preferred over round ones for ease of manufacture. The standard was informally agreed around 1930 by the socket manufacturers Clipsal, Ring Grip and the State Electricity Commission of Victoria; later formally adopted as the Australian Standard in 1938.

The window with the Coronation of the Virgin was donated around 1509 by count Philipp II of Virneburg (ca. 1450-1522/1525), who is depicted together with his deceased wives Johanna van Horne and Walpurgis von Solms-Lich, and St. George.
Philipp wears smooth armour without flutings, which was highly common in German lands during the first two decades of the 16th century, just before the Maximilian style became more prevalent in some regions.
There could also be a Netherlandish influence regarding Cologne's proximity to the area.
Do note that some parts of the armour seem to be a product of the 19th century restoration: the large tassets of Philipp's armour are not attached to his fauld but are worn under it. Maybe a mistake, or simply a strange original?
St. George is shown in a contemporary armour (note the decorated breast with the red cross) with some fanciful details, e.g. the shoulders, rerebraces and the rather strangely decorated jerkin. The couters, gloves and sword also seem to be a result of those later restorations.
In my humble opinion many parts of this window are honestly not that authentic anymore.

In the late 50's and early 60's Channel Master radios were made by Sanyo (Japan). This radio was made in Taiwan, I'm guessing early or mid 70's. Unsure of the manufacturer.
I'm a fan of many of the transistor radios from the 1970's. After some pretty dull, rectangular radios in the mid to late 60's colour and shape made a big comeback in the era of platform shoes, over-sized lapels and polyester leisure suits.

June 13, 2009 we are having a Rededication of our Lodge. Ten years ago our two Lodges merged to Form Paradise Valley Silver Trowel #29. The Charter Master of the new Lodge was hosting the event and he asked the last sitting Master of Silver Trowel #29 and the last (living) sitting Master of Paradise Valley #61 to speak on behalf of their respective Lodges. I'm the last sitting Master left from PV61 and my term was 1997. Looking at the men I was representing, the men who taught me and helped me and who should who should have been up there in my place was a very sobering experience. One that made me humble and yet proud at the same time. When I began my journey on Feb.16, 1972 I never thought it would lead here and beyond.
