Maple at Roselline Event Nap Queen

We usually have wonderful fall color in this area when the maples turn red, then as they fade the aspens turn yellow. This year there are a few places where we have reds, yellows, and greens all at the same time. This scene is in Logan Canyon, Utah where the wide open spaces give us a great view of the scene.

At Eastlawn cemetery

there are maple, oak and hickory trees where I live.... maples turn the best colors.

I mean April showers on my maples.

Its that tree again

The Japanese Maple at the Portland Japanese Garden.

I like this horizontal version a little better than the vertical I posted a few weeks ago as this photo has better light at the base of the tree lighting the fallen leaves and rim lighting the tree trunk.

This is a view of just a few of the maple seeds on this big leaf maple. More seeds in the clusters this year than I've ever seen!

The Autumn is most faverite season for me.

If I keep working japan I can see the beatiful maple in kyoto..

But There is no change in this year.

When can I see that maple again?

There are actually two identical maples back to back . . . the one in back was just starting to turn, while the front maple was singing it's autumn song!

I actually drove passed these trees, realized how beautiful they were and turned around to get the shot!

Our only tree - a Japanese Maple in our front garden - was looking amazing in the late sunshine yesterday.

There's a big broadleaf maple like the one in the background here behind our house. I couldn't guess its dimensions, but it is enormous. Technically it is in our neighbor's yard, but since it towers over and is much older than all of us it's more like we belong to it, a feeling I particularly experience in the fall, when it creates the most epic cleanup responsibilities. We often hear barred owls in it at night. Somehow we have never laid eyes on them, but I expect it is just a matter of time. We see all other kinds of daytime birds in it, of course. Cooper's hawks like to hunt in it and it is a popular place for racoons to spend the day before raiding our pond at night. All of the other very big trees nearby are firs, and I think the combination of evergreen and deciduous habitat, as well as the nearby greenbelt and wetlands, all play a role in the extraordinary suburban birding around here. This is from the owl family down the bicycle path. Barred owl, Olympia, WA.

Was starving and just about to eat lunch, when I saw the Japanese maple glowing in sunlight out back. Couldn't get out there fast enough to take some pics!

Deep in the forest

Maple burning bright

In the darkness of my dreams

I see fires in the night

Maple having a little rest, and posing for the camera, on our walk through a local ravine last week. He was VERY happy to have a change of scenery.

Fortunately his front leg is covering his 'happiness'.
