Our Governor is easing some of the restrictions today. I snuck out a day early and grabbed a few shots. Not a soul in sight during my outing except for passing cars.

Oh for the love of Dragonflies! This is as good as it gets for now...hand holding a stonking great 400mm zoom whilst chasing the little sods around is not the easiest thing in the world when trying to achieve a sharp shot!!...to be continued ;-)) 1/1000 shutter speed...5000 iso so not too bad I guess!

if you go directly from an air-conditioned, 30% humidity home to 98% humidity outside, you can get an interesting, temporary effect on your lens.

I've just wrapped up my review of the newest lens in the Zeiss family - the Milvus Distagon 18mm f/2.8. This lens will start shipping at the end of the month, but I've had a chance to spend about a month with it and am ready to share my final conclusions. You can watch them here: bit.ly/2dKLaNV | or read them here: bit.ly/2d8mqKJ. You can also see more images from the lens here: bit.ly/2csoGhc. The sky was really awesome on this particular evening, but I wasn't in a location where I could really capture it in an aesthetically pleasing way. I grabbed the tripod and moved to a long exposure. It removed distractions from the scene and also allowed the light trails to become the foreground subject and to create tension between the sky and the movement of the light. And, for some reason, when I looked the image, what came into my mind was a line from the old hymn, "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior". So I rolled with it! Seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won't you stop and remember me
At any convenient time?
Funny how my memory skips while looking over manuscripts
Of unpublished rhyme
Drinking my vodka and lime
I look around
Leaves are brown, now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Voightlander 28mm manual focus lens. You never know what you might find when you walk in the streets. I saw this unique scene in Philly and later found that a vandal had shattered the glass and the owner of the shoe store fashioned a shoe to fill the hole.

Every now and then I want to stretch a few creative muscles. I shot this original image with a very empty, washed out sky behind it. It was screaming for something more dramatic, particularly from the angle (and depth of field) that I shot it from. I composited in the moon from another shot (this would be impossible with a 50mm lens!), and went from day to night in the processing. The end result suits my creative vision over how the scene would have looked as something out of a fantasy. I hope you enjoy these steps to the moon.
