Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillar in the butterfly garden. This guy was huge, gotta be just about ready to go into a chrysalis. And the yellow things are eggs for more of these!
Taken using my 10D with a Polaris Auto Zoom 80-200mm f3.5. This is an old Japanese manual-focus Pentax-mount (M42) telephoto that belonged to my Dad. It's attached using an EOS-to-M42 lens mount adapter. It's all manual, so the focus is only as good as my eyesight. I used a tripod.

I knew there was an owl nest in the hollow crook of this tree--sure enough, she was in there peeking out at us! Female barred owl (Strix varia).
