I bought these daffodils from work earlier this week. They are a little bit more expensive than the standard trumpet shaped ones but they look that bit more erm..... special

It's been a busy day at work battling through my manflu and not a lot of time to prepare a decent shot.

Time now for a beer and slobbing in front of the tv!

Day 29 - January = Red

Man flu has set in good and proper today - felt worse than yesterday! Think I've reached my limit on cold and flu, day and night tablets. Best start on the ibuprofen!

This is straight out of the camera.

Chicken, Potato scallops, Avocado

G'day food lovers

I spent today in Sydney for a meeting and the recovery from the ManFlu is getting me down. I had planned to cook dinner but on the flight back I decided I would do takeaway.

I went to Jamison Plaza and got half a chook and a couple of potato scallops. And for bloody Mexicans aka Victorians, these are potato scallops. They are not potato cakes.

I thought I should have something fresh because for lunch I ate party pies which was a bit of a mistake. I had an avocado with tea tonight.

I wish this cough would improve.

Catch you later.

man flu has struck!

Mock-ups of man flu remedies

Literally..

I just spent an hour out in the snow doing SPs for today. Somewhere between my camera and computer they disappeared. And I have a really wheezy chest.

:(

Man flu. It afflicts most boyfriends/husbands at least once a year and although I have never had it myself, it sounds like it causes excruciating pain with symptoms ranging from mild groaning to more sever immobility. I am glad to see that finally, someone has acknowledged the suffering men go through and at long last, come up with a cure.

Take a photo every day in 2011

Taking the 365 photo is the easy part, organising the uploading can be awkward and requires accurate logging, at least once in the year I will come unstuck and this time I have many excuses. The problems with the computer continued throughout December

1) Faulty PC mother board and graphics card, so therefore a new computer.

2) After loading all my software and programs and personalising Windows etc the new PC blue screens, This is a software fault as after another restore it perfumes the way it should, never the less during the crash the connected USB devices failed: a card reader and….

3) External hard drive – I work with 3 copies but of course I have already lost one formatting my old PC so I’m down to only one copy on a hard drive that is stored off site at my dads, the data on that drive is not as current as the other two. I’m a little nervous as until my replacement arrives from Western Digital (excellent support service and process from them) my backup strategy is exposed, I was trialling using a Cloud backup but I think it’s that system that crashed the PC

And it went on and on. What a month, to cap it all after fighting a cold off with lemon, ginger and honey it finally caught me on Christmas day, Not the worst cold but I could do without it’

Anyway. I think I have all the photos and I can remember the sequence so I should upload them all before midnight on the 31st

Duck, Potato, Kale sprouts

G'day food lovers

I was scrounging in the freezer earlier and discovered a packet of potato mash. Rather than waste it because of my low carb living, I thought I should eat it tonight with some duck breast and kale sprouts.

I cooked the duck breast for 2 hours at 76 °C (169 °F). I seared it in a hot frypan with some butter.

The potato mash is cooked using microwave radiation for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

The kale sprouts are cooked for 15 minutes at 150 °C (302 °F).

It's Father's Day here in Australia and the first day of Spring. Happy Father's Day to Australian dads.

Salmon, Kale sprouts, Cabbage, Carrot, Red onion, Olive Oil, Lemon juice, Tomatoes, Avocado, Almonds, Peanuts, Dates

G'day food lovers

It's Monday and I almost always have salmon on Monday.

Rather than pan-fry my salmon, tonight I oiled up a fillet of salmon as well as some kale sprouts and put them into a hot oven for 15 minutes.

I shredded some red cabbage, sugarloaf cabbage, carrot, and red onion to make a slaw which I dressed with olive oil and lemon juice. I also added some cherry tomatoes, avocado, and dates plus almond flakes and crushed peanuts.

I hope you're having a good night.

Caution - warning - man flu

I was hoping for something special for day 100. Unfortunately I have developed manflu overnight and feel like total crap. So instead I took a shot of the only essential thing in my life today - my tissues!

Now I know that women don't appreciate the seriousness of the manflu but lets not underestimate it's ability to strike without notice, to incapacitate a man for days and the wider implications for family members who have to deal with the fallout!

I think women should feel lucky that they cant catch it....

Tuesday tea. Pork belly and avocado.

Pork, Avocado

G'day food lovers

I had a huge lunch. I had leftover slow cooked brisket and prawn cabbage laksa soup.

I don't feel that hungry so I pulled out a strip of pork belly, put it in the oven for 45 minutes at 200 °C and when it was cooked cut it up and ate it with avocado.

Have a good one.

We had a salesman fly in to visit us last week. We've been working for almost a year to evaluate his firm's product and it was getting close to the deal. He turned up with what seemed like another of his bad colds. You know the sort of thing - coughing, sneezing, runny nose and looking generally miserable. The full package.

He calls me up the next day and asks if I'd noticed that he'd looked really bad at one point. Being the naturally observant chap that I am, I reply "no". "Oh well", he says, "I had a bad case of the flu and was nearly fainting".

Now, thanks to my upbringing, I'm as willing as the next person to resort to the wonders of modern medicine. A few days later I got out the good old Hg thermometer (did anyone else get to play with drops of mercury during school chemistry lessons? We did) to see if I was having a good time or not. Not a sausage, not even a hint of man flu.

To tell you the truth, I dug it out of the medicine chest with the idea of helping out with Corinne's 1-40 number project. It turns out she doesn't need 35-40 so I'm stuck with this shot. Do you know how difficult it is to aim a macro at oneself? Having a DoF of about 3mm doesn't help either.

Night off from cooking - Local Pizza place to celebrate the virtual end of Manflu this time - Next year I'm getting a jab !

Long time no post, like a week long! That week I have been in bed mostly and massivly ill. I was mostly ok for my birthday on the 1st but was in bed by half 10, yeah I know rock and roll eh. ;)

I will catch up tomorrow with my 365 but today is one more sick day in bed. :s

Feeling like sh*t today, man flu only partially being the reason. Worn out but ready for the fight and still in the game!

Man + flu

Not aiming for inspiration here - I am having enough problems with respiration.

(OK, I'm not really that unwell, but one has to seek sympathy where one can.)

Day five with man-flu, the picture tells the story more then i can....

G'day food lovers

I'm now in the laryngitis phase of my ManFlu. I didn't feel like cooking so I heated up leftover sous vide duck breast and MEATER™ made chicken thigh cabbage laksa flavoured soup using microwave radiation.

Man Flu (27/366)

Probably shouldn't have been out in the rain last night taking photographs :)

we have no snow here but yesterday was cold. I turn round and my partner sat huddled on the bench and just thought ok this is my effort

we have all had a slight cold normal stuff runny nose, sneezing slight sore throat but him no he has bubonic plague and is basically driving us mad with his moaning and groaning

Its got me but I'm sure its a lot worse than everyone else's.

This is my survival kit for the day.

I'm not sure whether it was too much bike riding yesterday or the onset of a cold but I've felt pretty grim today.

i have a cold...grrrr! ...not only do i have a cold, i also have an infection in a tooth which is making it very very painful to even talk!! *sniffle, ouch!*

sadly the unsharp selfies seem to be becoming a habit...i could have redone it but was only fit for lying down in a darkened room after the activity of taking this one.
