Having to use my get out of jail free card for this weeks theme, having been housebound all week with manflu and now toothache I will not be able to get out for the shot I was hoping for !
And to top things off the rest off the household is ill too but only the daughter is off school at the moment.
Hopefully normal service resumed next week .
So my motion pic is from last autumn on the gelt.
Well, the recent episode of gout has subsided and I’m pleased to be clear of it for the time being.
I’m less than pleased, however, to be blessed with yet another cold courtesy of the grandkids.
So, at the moment I’m confined to barracks amid a growing pile of sodden Kleenex tissues, a head full of snot and a throat that’s so raw from all the coughing that it feels like I’ve been gargling with a combo of razor wire and gravel.
The only thing keeping me going is Night Nurse, Paracetamol and the prospect of another evening with some falling down water and a Chicken Tikka Madras to show my body who’s boss.
Anyways, this is a late 2019 pic of the water wheel at Cromford, Derbyshire...I know, it’s over processed but it’s the best I can muster given the above circumstances.
"It's foggy outside" whispered my wife in my ear at 5.30 this morning. Having just survived a weekend bout of manflu I was more than willing to sleep on my day off. But I had bought a drone for these kind of days (pictures incoming in the near future) so rolled out of bed and into my clothes.
As I waited for the fog to lift (turns out I could have wasted another three hours in bed before things got going!) I spent my time trying to find new photos of poles in water, something I'm quite partial to. The light though was very flat, boring and a dodgy shade of pea soup grey so didn't think I'd get anything. That is until a gaggle of geese decided to swim by. Rattled off a number of shots hoping they'd all line up nicely, with this being the best of the lot. Made up for the early start!
Heaven Can Wait
Meatloaf
Heaven can wait,
And a band of Angels wrapped up in my heart,
Will take me through the lonely night,
Through the cold of the day.
And I know, I know,
Heaven can wait,
And all the gods come down here just to sing for me,
And the melody's gonna make me fly,
Without pain, without fear.
Give me all of your dreams,
And let me go alone on your way.
Give me all of your prayers to sing,
And I'll turn the night into the skylight of day.
I got a taste of paradise,
I'm never gonna let it slip away.
I got a taste of paradise,
It's all I really need to make me stay
Just like a child again.
Heaven can wait.
And all I've got is time until the end of time.
I won't look back.
I won't look back.
Let the altars shine.

Meatloaf.
Thanks for the memories and your major contribution to the world of music. RIP
I didn’t get out to shoot today, as I thought I’d been Covidid, but I hadn’t thankfully.
I do however have a bad case of Manflu, so, if you had intended sending a Covid Care Package, I will still accept them …
Coffee, beer and chocolate please!!
Shot this one a few weeks back. Horseshoe Falls, in the Blue Mountains.
Hope you like “Heaven Can Wait”
Cheers, Mike
Spending most of the day getting through lots of tissue's and looking on my external hard drive at images from the Lake District.
Had a day off work today and after slowly shaking this manflu off, decided for a drive out to capture some snow pics and guess what , I got another picture of a bridge.
I did find plenty of snow at the higher reaches of cumbria aswell.
Having to resort to old photos as I'm stuck indoors with manflu, I don't do ill very well and the wife can vouch for that lol
After my manflu it was nice to finally get back out and get some fresh air and fresh shots. The tide was in down at Crosby and the wind creating great waves which were breaking on the men.

The fact that I am still ill can only mean that I must have contracted malaria from one of the three mosquito bites I received in Jordan, or the two I had in South America. There can be no other explanation for it; even manflu would have gone by now.
I’m actually feeling a thousand times better today than I have recently, and it now remains as a bit of a sinus thing, blistering headaches and only partial dizziness and cold sweats at sporadic intervals. I feel I am finally over the worst of whatever it was and can hopefully fully recoup before our Christmas party on Friday.
Throughout this whole ordeal, it has been noted that my toes have remained fully functional and pain free. Go get’em toes!
Yes, I’m still on medication, what of it?
Meanwhile, in Jordan there is a place called Petra, and near Petra there is another place called Little Petra. It is much quieter than main Petra, and not as impressive, but it does boast of having ‘the best view in the world’ should you wish to clamber over a load of rocks to see it (though, it’s a lie – don’t believe it).
It’s worth popping along to though. You’ll get to see sights such as this one.

Another quick trip to a remote abandoned factory this time with a willing victim. I had to cut my evening a little short due to still suffering with "man flu" (It's a real thing, not imagined!)
After a very bad case of man flu only a man would understand this frame seemed fitting feeling the want to venture out and take a deep breath without coughing my guts up!
There's probably very little eco-friendly about this!
One from a car graveyard, one of many locations hit this weekend gone on a road trip op' North! Manic weekend of gigging, explores, wining & dining and other shenanigans, all with a stinking case of manflu! Only just recovering now! :P
But I will try...
Have been chained up in the shed all week because I had the Manflu... Finally felt a wee bit better today, and the sun was shining (Although it was only +2 deg. C) So I thought we would go out and find something to point the Nikon at.... Only to be informed that
"Er indoor's" was now comming down with Womanflu. We all know Womanflu is not as bad as Manflu, but She was having none of it, so I was on my own,, Or so I thought...
Must have still been tripping on Lemsip's when this idea popped into my head... (Note; other Cold ond Flu remedies are available..
I think I got the cold on Father's Day when I was on the road with just a shirt and short trousers on. And after a sunny warm morning it got cloudy and colder in the afternoon. Well, not so bad... just a man-flu, lol ;)
Staying at home this week and recover on my balcony and couch.
By the way, Happy Children's Day! I will never grow up ;-)

Great finale to a pretty damn good weekend , day 1 met up with some stellar flickr lads for Asylum G, shame I was a bit ill and an added distraction from a nuisance, but both are remedied
Still recovering from a bout of manflu and the mammoth Asylum G visit the day before I literally awake to an impromptu phone call invite to Chambre De Chocolate, day 2 mission on with ProjectMayhem
Well this was an unexpected surprise, I had just found a bog standard Dicyrtomina saundersi and this tiny little dude scuttles past, this I think is Sminthurinus aureus and is possibly the smallest Globular Springtail I have found to date at about 0.5mm, the best thing is I think I actually found 2 different individuals, so really chuffed, reckon I'm going to need more magnification LOL :o)
I have been off Flickr this weekend, had a severe case of ManFlu, will attempt to catch up this week :o)

Thanks to Connie for tagging me (blame her, Baghead, not me!). As usual, consider yourself tagged too if you see this... and apologies to all those I haven't tagged (and probably a few I have too!)
All Baghead wanted was a couple of nurses to plump his pillows and bring him comfort pizza while he suffered out loud... fortunately his ManFlu turned out to be nothing more than a minor case of the snuffles and he was quickly (very *very* quickly!) up and about again ;)

This is an Avro Vulcan, on display at Carlisle airport. It was a giant supersonic bomber that carried a nuclear payload. For me though, it was a way of introducing some foreground interest.
I am suffering from the manflu again. My throat is bad and my ears feel like they've got those creatures in them from the Wrath of Khan. (I'm not a Trekkie so am impressed in my pathetic state that I managed to get two references into one description).
Sorry for being hopeless at Flickr!
I am suffering today... A terrible cold. I'm surprised that I managed to crawl in to work this morning... I struggled through the day... manfully...
If you want to see just how serious a condition it is, then I would urge you to go HERE. It will take only two minutes of your time and I swear you'll love it! :)
You will understand that I haven't got the energy to post anything really creative :) So I'm afraid I'm heading back to the wonderful DRL TEN Pavilion which was on London's Bedford Square for a while before being dismantled recently. I think I may have said recently that I'd posted my last shot of the pavilion. I'm sorry to have cheated you - but I hope you'll forgve me. I am, after all, suffering from man flu...

Manflu: A study.
I honestly don't know what I was thinking with this. I've been quite delusional all day :D
I planned to go out and take some night shots, but wanted to take some pictures early on, just in case I couldn't get anything later. So, I took this and in the end, decided to stay in in the warm this evening. I am a manflu mess.
Having a week of man flu and the entire day has been spent sneezing my head off so it was only right i try capture one, god there quick!

Been a yuk couple of days with the dreaded manflu (not the 'rona' thankfully) - had a play with this one form the folder "louvres" in the "Olympus Day in Sydney" folder 2023.
Explored a 'few' versions of this (see 'full' trash bin) but I'm pretty settled with this take ..
Bit of a fine art take on this .. really liked the structure ... just not the surrounds, sky .. .colour .. you know the usual simple little things.

I can't resist messing around with stuff, as you can see. This hasn't turned out quite as I expected - it is two shots stitched together and I really need to 'see' the composition better when I'm planning to do this. Plus, time for the piles of stones to finish - hard to focus on that and the background (failed!).
But, it was fun, and I got some fresh air to blow a bit of the manflu away!
Ducked up the hill to Bowral yesterday as the weather wes perfect.. Had a walk amongst the tulips and a Devonshire Tea at the CWA ..
Well that was yesterday ... came down with a pretty full on headcold last night - it's cold and blowing a gale out there today ...
Manflu is never good at the best of times ;-)
All taken with the Olympus OM-1 and M.Zuiko 40-150/2.8 Pro
Raw developed in DxO PhotoLab 7, colour graded in Nik 7 Color Efex, tweaked in Topaz AI-3 and finished off back in PhotoLab.
All except for 'St George' - that was raw stacked in Luminar Neo from an 8 frame stack, then colour graded in Nik 7 Color Efex etc ..
All the details in the exif's for those interested.
Have a great day wherever you are :-)

I'm still battling a crippling man flu (aka the common cold) but today has been a fun day. As I moped around sniffling, Meggie and I watched two disaster movies (Twister and Dantes Peak) and we played some Ping Pong. In the afternoon, we did the crawl along the hiking stores picking up some bargains in the Easter sales. Then tonight Anna and I took Meg and one of her mates out to dinner and to see the musical Legally Blonde (with thanks to fellow 365er Cinn, who is the publicist for the show.
For dinner, we went to Vapiano in the city - it's this pasta place where you order directly from the chef and he cooks it in front of you and gives you your meal. It's a bit of a favourite with us - and featured back in my 365:2011. I was speaking to the bloke cooking my meal - very cheerful Italian chap but alas I didn't ask his name. He's a chef, but took this job because he wanted the social interaction with the people he was cooking for. He clearly enjoys his job, and was happy when I asked if I could take his picture.
I'm starting to fall behind in comments - manflu will do that to you. But should get the chance to catch up tomorrow.

Yes, I know, I have very pretty feet.
The lurgy has been going round our family in recent weeks and over the last few days I've had my turn to enjoy it. Obviously being male, it has hit me the hardest which gave me the idea for the photo this week. Although I'm feeling pretty much fine again now, tonight was the first chance I've had to devote some time to making the picture.
I set the lights up first and took some test shots of my hand. I wanted the feel of a body in a morgue so I made use of blue and green gels. One blue gelled flash was bounced off the ceiling for a generally cold ambient feel. I then added a rim light to my feet from camera right with a green gelled flash and brought up the exposure on the label / soles of my feet using another green gelled flash from camera left.
I set the camera up on a tripod with a wireless remote and configured the camera to autofocus when the shutter button is depressed (I don't usually have the camera set up this way as I use the AF-ON button to focus). This meant it would auto-focus when I held the remote trigger halfway down. I then set the camera to display the photograph on the display after each shot, which is again something that I don't usually do. I positioned a mirror behind the camera so that I could then see the result of each photograph from where I was sat on the bed. This meant that I could move my feet slightly to where I wanted them in the frame. Well, it kept me amused for a while anyway.
I hope you're all well!

I've been suffering from man flu so not really managed as much as I'd like.
note to self - remember to buy chicken noodle soup and Police! Camera! Action! DVD
I hope to survive beyond this evil affliction and yet I sense the Grim Reaper is hanging around me like an unwanted smell - or maybe that's just the dog...
Booked a Jousting Experience for Alex and Lawrence for their Christmas present - trying to contact the supplier to confirm dates !!
Currently have Manflu so this is the best I can do today !!

Day 121.
Been sick with the worlds worst disease, manflu, for the last 2 days so I'll have to catch up with a shot from Sunday.
One of my favourite views, taken a few at night and always planned to do a daytime version. Done with my ND3.0 which I' beginning to think is a bit crappy.
Please pray for me and my manflu.
well i'm still feeling under the weather. i thought i was getting better but last night and this morning i felt awful....god i'm such a wimp, its only a little cold.
Alison has been very good to me as usual and has made my favorite, chicken soup a.k.a. Jewish penicillin.
