BREMERTON, Wash. (April 14, 2020) Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Joyce D. Martin, a native of Cumming, Ga., stationed aboard Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), and Peyton Jones, a Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) employee, cut and organize reusable, cloth facemasks at PSNS & IMF. The masks are now mandated by a new Department of Defense COVID-19 protective measure requiring individuals to wear face coverings when within six feet of each other. Vinson Sailors are augmenting PSNS & IMF to mass produce masks for wear by the crew and personnel in the shipyard, with 10,000 kits that included two masks, instructions and a pen for labeling having been distributed to date. The Duluth Harbor South Breakwater Outer Light has been very hard in the past to photograph on account of the very bright green light. Thanks to lantern room maintenance and a lesser light, this photo was possible. The Isadora is anchored in the distance.

Maintenance on our R32s cars will keep them on the rails until new R179 cars are delivered. We're doing a limited-scope maintenance makeover on four cars per week.

With their once-gleaming stainless-steel bodies dulled by age and their windows scarred by the negative attention of vandals, MTA New York City Transit's R32 subway cars are living out their final years of service until the arrival of their replacements. In order to make those last trips go more smoothly, however, the cars are "having a little work done."

The "Brightliners," as the Budd-built cars were dubbed upon their introduction into service back in 1964, were the first large fleet of stainless steel cars purchased by New York City Transit and the first corrosion resistant cars placed in service since the ten experimental cars purchased in 1949 by the New York City Board of Transportation.

We're taking a new approach to how we perform critical inspection and maintenance of subway components that are necessary to providing reliable service -- FASTRACK. The third implementation of FASTRACK is taking place on the Sixth Avenue B/D/F/M Line from 57 Street to W 4 Street from Feb. 27 to March 2, 2012. Because a section of the subway is closed to trains for seven consecutive hours, FASTRACK is a safer and more efficient way to maintain and clean New York City's sprawling subway — a system that never closes.

With no trains running along Sixth Avenue, 800 MTA employees are able to inspect signals, replace rails and cross ties, scrape track floors, clean stations and paint areas that are not reachable during normal train operation. Workers also took the opportunity to clean lighting fixtures, change bulbs and repair platform edges while performing high-intensity station cleaning.

So I'm leaving for my last minute unexpected trip to Vegas tomorrow.

So many things I had to do today.

1) Manicure - check

2) Pedicure - check

3) Tan - check

4) Shop for travel essentials - check

5) Eyebrow wax - check

6) Clean the jewelry I am taking - check

7) Do laundry - check

8) Pick up dry cleaning - check

9) Pack - check

I usually get a fresh haircut too, but I just had it cut two weeks ago so this cut should last me until I get back.

(And this is the short checklist! And each link gives a bit more info about my hang-ups.)

These bags weigh a ton.

I have already chosen what will be worn to breakfast everyday.

I have already chosen what I will change into to go to the pool everyday.

I have already chosen what I will wear every night.

This includes several pairs of jeans, shorts, flip-flops, boots, and more shirts and socks and underwear than I would need for only seven days.

In fact, I am taking more clothes that what I will need for week.

I have enough stuff for about 10 days and I'd never have to wear something twice.

I really do have issues.

I am the first to admit that I am high maintenance to a fault.

Lucky for me - I found someone who understands totally where I am coming from and will even help me groom myself!

But I return the favor.

And I also have a few good friends who accept (or tolerate) me as is.

I know this makes me sound so shallow and vain, but I assure you I am not.

Well, maybe not the shallow part. But I do have certain standards that have to be met in terms of how and where I travel. And where I will stay and where I will go once I get there. (And we feel like we are slumming it this year!)

In my next lifetime I will probably be (although I hope not) or in my previous one I was probably one of those guys that didn't care about my appearance or my surroundings at all.

This will be my last daily portrait that I will post until I get back.

See you all soon.

Year 2 - Day 50

July 20, 2008

PS - If I have time in the morning before I leave, I will post a few pictures I have been meaning to upload. Just look at one a day and it will be like I never left.

The reject.

Was able to fit the new DaveFab aluminium coolant expansion tank. Fitment 100%, straight swap without any issues. I used some black silicone hose for the overflow nipple.

Looks great and is also good for piece of mind, as this will not crack like the plastic tank.

I love the little inspection window :)
