Designed for minimal maintenance in the growing season.
It is a fallacy that to achieve a low maintenance garden you need loads of gravel, paving slabs or decking with little or no greenery .
Other than cutting the grass I spend no more than 5 minutes a week from April to November maintaining this 60 feet by 40 feet garden with borders which vary in width from 6 feet to 15 feet deep.
This is possible because all the plants grow together and there's almost zero soil showing so almost no weeds. I get the odd perennial weed amonst the plants but these are a seconds job to pull out. There is very little soil showing but I can whip round the soil that does show in less than 5 minutes to hoe any weeds that do appear
Over winter I spend about 5 hours cutting back all the perennials and some of the shrubs and dividing some of the perennials if it is necessary to stop them getting too big.
The photo shows about half the garden
More photos of the garden can be seen in some of the comments boxes below

Lawton National Guard Armory Maintenance Garages
Designed by Paul Harris
Lawton, OK
1955
Here's a blurb about these great mid-century structures from the Central OK AIA's Celebrate 100 guide:
"Brimming with new ideas in design and materials, Lawton architect Paul Harris hoped to create a model armory. He chose a thin-shell concrete dome to define the drill hall space, with a low wing to house the offices. Adjacent to the armory, he placed two maintenance garages with sine-wave roofs.
Both attractive and functional, the structure is atypical for post-World War II armories. The concrete dome sits atop an aluminum-clad concrete wall that hides a vent system, which -- when combined with the enormous exhaust fan located at the dome's apex -- creates an efficient air-circulation system during hot weather. LIght is brought into the drill hall through circular skylights forming two concentric rings around the dome.
When conceived, Harris thought his relatively inexpensive and flexible disgn would serve as a model for future armories everywhere. For whatever reason, it was not to be, but his genius was recognized when the armory joined the National Register in 2007."
Personally, I've always been very interested in Paul Harris's work because it so mirrors the work my grandfather was doing in OKC at the same time. Harris designed several thin-shell, modern wonders in and around Lawton during the 50's, but he died in 1958 while still in his prime years, which is why I think he's largely forgotten today. It's too bad because he was a brilliant architect who deserves to be recognized for the innovative and very futuristic work he did.

Lately I have been building new trees and modifying old ones. Now the trees are planted on the side of a mountain I've been working on since late December. The mountain is constructed of 1" sheet styrofoam, paper "biscuits" wadded up from brown paper bags used to protect wine bottles, and plaster cloth. My mountain was designed to be removable for the ease of construction, maintenance of scenery, access to the tracks for cleaning and re-railing trains, and eventual moving.
On the lower slopes are Ponderosa Pines, then Quaking Aspens, Douglas Fir, and Engelmann Spruce. The latter trees are bottle-brush type trees from Heki that I've had for decades. All the others are from Woodland Scenics kits and components that I've modified to resemble the trees of northern New Mexico I'm not 100% satisfied with my attempt with aspens, but Woodland Scenics doesn't really have a tree armature shape or foliage color that suits me. My version of Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir is closer than most modelers' work. Bottle brush type trees are OK for certain firs and spruces with an overall conical shape but not for "pine" trees that too many modelers try to pass off.
On the right hand side of this view, you can see the cutout for my track, and the left side will butt up against the photo mural background. The pink styrofoam visible on the bottom is where the mountain drops into its slot. On the left front, part of the mountain overlaps onto the adjacent section, and a wide creek goes around the bend and disappears from view.

Maintenance on our R32s cars will keep them on the rails until new R179 cars are delivered. We're doing a limited-scope maintenance makeover on four cars per week.
With their once-gleaming stainless-steel bodies dulled by age and their windows scarred by the negative attention of vandals, MTA New York City Transit's R32 subway cars are living out their final years of service until the arrival of their replacements. In order to make those last trips go more smoothly, however, the cars are "having a little work done."
The "Brightliners," as the Budd-built cars were dubbed upon their introduction into service back in 1964, were the first large fleet of stainless steel cars purchased by New York City Transit and the first corrosion resistant cars placed in service since the ten experimental cars purchased in 1949 by the New York City Board of Transportation.

Maletto is on the western side of the Etna to 960 M of altitude. Human settlings, around the actual Maletto, they were had until from the first millennium before Christ. There lived the Siculs, then arrived Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Arabs, Normans and Swabians. To one of these last, the Manfredi Maletta count, is owed the origin of Maletto. In the 1263, this one did raise on the fortress a strengthened tower, said Castle, about which s picked up a first nucleus of inhabitants. The construction of the actual historical centre was started at the end of XV century, when the districts that are today around the Castle were built. The construction then continued in the first years of the following century with the realization of the baronial palace of the Spatafora and the attached Saint Michael Archangel church, l et alone of stores and of an open gallery, of an inn and of a warehouse. It was however starting from the 1619, when Maletto the king of Spain recognized the title of principality, that the area is developed mostly, assuming the definitive aspect kept to our days. Maletto is the most elevated town of the Etna and of the province of Catania and it reverts nearly for whole in the park of the Etna. The production of the strawberries has made famous Maletto in the world.
Mount Etna (Aetna in Latin, also known as Muncibeddu in Sicilian and Mongibello in Italian, a combination of Latin mons and Arabic gibel, both meaning mountain) is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily, close to Messina and Catania. Its Arabic name was Jebel Utlamat (the Mountain of Fire).Volcanic activity at Etna began about half a million years ago, with eruptions occurring beneath the sea off the coastline of Sicily. 300,000 years ago, volcanism began occurring to the southwest of the present-day summit, before activity moved towards the present centre 170,000 years ago. Eruptions at this time built up the first major volcanic edifice, forming a strato-volcano in alternating explosive and effusive eruptions. The growth of the mountain was occasionally interrupted by major eruptions leading to the collapse of the summit to form calderas. From about 35,000 to 15,000 years ago, Etna experienced some highly explosive eruptions, generating large pyroclastic flows which left extensive ignimbrite deposits. Ash from these eruptions has been found as far away as Rome, 800 km to the north.Sicily's greatest natural attraction is also its highest mountain: Mount Etna, at 10,924 feet, is the most active volcano in Europe and the oldest recorded active volcano in the world.Mount Etna is an active volcano on the east coast of Sicily, close to Messina and Catania. It is the largest active volcano in Europe, currently standing about 3329.6 m (10,924 feet)high, though it should be noted that this varies with summit eruptions; the mountain is 21.6 m (71 ft) lower now than it was in 1865. It is the highest mountain in Italy south of the Alps. Etna covers an area of 1,190 km² (460 square miles) with a basal circumference of 140 km.The fertile volcanic soils support extensive agriculture, with vineyards and orchards spread across the lower slopes of the mountain and the broad Plain of Catania to the south. Due to its history of recent activity and nearby population, Mount Etna has been designated a Decade Volcano by the United Nations.Etna lava stone is a material with unique characteristics: durable, indestructible, resistant to changes in the temperature (it’s a heat conductor), it offers infinite possibilities of uses: flooring, urban furniture, interior design. After the glazing process the product doesn’t get stained, resists to acids and doesn’t require particular maintenance: that’s why lava stone is the ideal material even to make kitchens and bathrooms countertops. The natural stone tends to grey, with the glazing process we can obtain any desired colour. Shapes, sizes and decorations can be customized . The lava stone it is formed by the solidification of cooled magma on the surface of the Etna volcano, in Sicily
