This photo is a scan from the cruise book of the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard CVA-31, titled Second Korean Cruise 1952. The BHR (sometimes known as the Bonny Dick, or Big Dick) was an aircraft carrier and task force command vessel. She had been mothballed for five years after WWII, and was recommissioned for the Korea action. While not designed for jet aircraft, she rose to the task of hosting F9F Panther fighter jets, and F2H-2P Banshee reconnaissance jets, as well as F4U Corsair and AD Skyraider piston-powered attack and bomber craft. The crew complement was about 3,500 men.
I have noted that contemporary sources show BHR's nickname spelled "Bonnie Dick." I got the "Bonny" spelling from the 1952 cruise book as well as a 1952 or '53 ship's publication detailing its role in the Korean action.

Transportation Maintenance Specialist Ruben Garcia just celebrated 40 years of state service and he still enjoys how different every day in his work. One thing he particularly enjoys is when a motorist expresses his or her appreciation.

SDOT is repaving Roosevelt Way NE between Fuhrman Ave NE and NE 65th Street and adding safety improvements this fall 2015 to spring 2016. Along with meeting Seattle’s basic maintenance needs, we are adding a one-way protected bike lane (PBL) on the west side of Roosevelt Way NE, transit reliability improvements and pedestrian improvements.
Protected bike lanes physically separate people riding bikes from people driving and are distinct from the sidewalk, adding predictability for all travelers. PBLs are especially attractive to people who might be willing to bike but are concerned about safety. Better bike lanes can’t solve every problem, but they are one of many tools Seattle can deploy provide safer, more comfortable facilities to get from one place to another. PBLs can also to attract new businesses that employ talented workers and for people who prefer to live, work, study and play in the University District and Roosevelt neighborhoods.

These signs are notorious for corroding and a fibre glass replacement is available.
I've decided to remove this to see how bad the corrosion is underneath.
