Fruit Cocktail From California – Fruit Cocktail Hot! Call us scaredy cats, but we’re a little apprehensive about that pan of bubbling fruit cocktail. Butterfingers Shelf Life might drop it, or spill it. Here’s what’s freaking us out: we would have to explain to the emergency room physician that we had an accident with hot fruit cocktail, and that would be weird.

Bisquick New!! Plantation Biscuits - Speaking of stuff that isn’t pretty any more, some ad language has deservedly gone with the wind. In 2011, no one would dream of suggesting a concept like ‘Plantation Biscuits’. Guess there weren’t too many black folks on Madison Avenue back then.

When Shelf Life was young, we dreamed of a job in the cosmetics industry: conjuring up names for lipsticks and nail polishes. Now we’re older and wiser, with a new ambition: christening sandwiches made of lunch meat. For example, check out the bologna-and-pineapple combo, the ‘Aloha’. Pardon our ego, but we could have thought of that!

Stokely’s – Finest Way To Lend A Fiesta Air - Ah, bygone America. Shelf Life can only marvel at trusting, untraveled Americans of the 1940s, who apparently believed that Mexican-style food could be achieved with a teaspoon of chili powder and some chopped pimiento. Such innocence, muchachos!

I created this scatter-plot/area graph to explain how poorly tech stocks have performed over the past decade, especially compared to the overall market.
