life went by pretty quick for most of these leaf-footed bug nymphs in the four days after i stumbled upon them hatching

 

by day four their numbers had dwindled down from dozens into two small isolated groups, riding the grasses as the winds whipped them all around and not venturing too far from the rest of survivors, lest they fall prey to the jumping spiders gathering nearby for an easy meal

 

on the fifth day, i could find signs of no more - either they managed to move elsewhere to safer territories or they succumbed to higher ranks in the food chain

bumblebees don't care that you have a camera right up in their face, but they're not going to stop and pose either - so this was the best i could do w/ a purposely wide aperture that didn't come off as an abstract w/ a splash of bee
