Pristomyrmex punctatus (old P. pungens) are ants that can manage withouth queens caste. Young workers are capable of lying eggs which evolve... into new workers. Yes! Those ants reproduce through parthenogenesis (telytoky), without queens or males included in the whole process.
Although, at times there might some queen/ergatoid-like workers or males appear in the nest.

A set of pictures taken at the Arundel Tulip Festival at Arundel Castle. The Castle opens its gates once a year to show of its huge array of tulips of all different shapes and colours. Sadly was a slightly grey day with little sun.
