i'm thinking this is a miner bee (andrena), enjoying itself on a nice summer day

the white with black bands is quite striking
noticed a warning that assassin bugs are venomous, so i started searching up just how venomous and was surprised to read that a 2022 statistic rated assassin bugs as the fifth deadliest animal to humans worldwide, listed after mosquitoes, snakes, dogs and freshwater snails, and responsible for an estimated 12k deaths
but then also read that it's not their bites that usually kill, but rather from a parasite in their feces which causes chagas disease - which, left untreated, can ultimately lead to heart failure
chagas is mostly limited to the southern hemiphere though, so it's not a big concern to get my lens in so close to this snazzy-looking true bug

While not a specialized macro photographer, I love capturing the miniature world around us. This scene presented itself during a late afternoon walk in Vietnamese rice paddies. The dragonfly seemed in perfect balance, suspended in time and space. The natural dark background created by the shadows of the rice plants gave this minimalist atmosphere I was hoping to capture. A moment of grace in the quietness of Vietnam's rice fields as the day was winding down, where nature reveals its most delicate details.
or, the gold-marked thread-waisted wasp
the way the latin name rolls off the tongue, it just feels right to embellish the delivery a little, add some extra pizzazz to it, ya know...

recently i posted a shot from underneath, so here's a shot from overhead to restore balance... ;-)

the hatch sequence of a leaf-footed bug nymph could make many a contortionist quite jealous...
the duration of the entire process was right under 90 minutes

it was a breezy day so this leaf-footed bug nymph was experiencing quite a bit of turbulence throughout the afternoon

Most of my pictures are taken in and around the city of Molde, in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.
This one was taken at the Rose Garden on roof of Molde Town Hall.
A rose is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae, or the flower it bears. There are over a hundred species and thousands of cultivars.
They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing or trailing with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds.

Night temperature is coming down and in humid monsoon most insect need time to dry the dew drops before they leave their perch.
