I made this for my niece's 3rd birthday for her first "big girl" bed. She loves purple so there are lots of different purple shades and patterns. The quilt design is from BH&G Quilts and More magazine, Winter 2008 issue, and is basically 36 10-inch squares with a solid back and pieced binding. I quilted in the ditch and then used machine embroidery to quilt each square using designs from Anita Goodesign's Quilter's Paradise collection. The batting is bamboo/organic cotton blend.
I absolutely adore the Yorrick design from Urban Threads.

The second layer of my new piece which is called "Mary, Mary, quite contrary"
Stitched layers on to cream linen, with added chiffon ( burnt back to the stitch line using a heat gun) and then added walnut and french sepia ink.
These pocket mirrors are lined up waiting for their wool pouches before headed off to a stockist in Wiltshire.
The "sand" is a piece of pony themed cotton curtains from the late 1950s/early 1960s; the bunting is made from minute pieces of liberty tana lawn.
The mirrors measure 6cm diameter.
hese kites are for the living room, may do some really bright ones for outside. Easy and fun - design from LianeStitch. Still on the WSS here.
Experimenting with altering, distressing and manipulating textiles for stitched journal project. Trying to capture the feeling of the constant rain hammering against the window day in day out.
1 Aug 08 - From www.black-cat-creations.com/item_details.php?id=119 - Block 4 of Plaid Cats in my Garden by Judy Reynolds and Amy Cotham. Embroidered by machine instead of by hand. This is a test block only. I may make one more and do some color changes before I start on the blocks for the quilt (just for fun). This block is slightly smaller than the prescribed size, but I wanted to use a scrap instead of cutting out a full-size block. I fabric-framed the piece with green plaid, and it lays beneath a 11 x 17 mat. Threads are various shades of Sulky rayon machine embroidery thread.
Secret Santa Swap with my students. What to make for a Set Designer with no interest in sewing? Of course a covered sketchbook with a machine embroidered scalple!
