I made this for my niece's 3rd birthday for her first "big girl" bed. She loves purple so there are lots of different purple shades and patterns. The quilt design is from BH&G Quilts and More magazine, Winter 2008 issue, and is basically 36 10-inch squares with a solid back and pieced binding. I quilted in the ditch and then used machine embroidery to quilt each square using designs from Anita Goodesign's Quilter's Paradise collection. The batting is bamboo/organic cotton blend.

I have a talented friend who makes wedding dresses and just occasionaly she gives me a bag of small offcuts of the most wonderful material, usually silk.
In this photograph I have shown how every inch of this material is used. I have machine embroidered ( without a hoop) several different sized flower shapes with are destined for cards and present decorations.
From getting control of machine to some lovely creative freehand machine
embroidery with Claire Humphries.

It's back to stitching my bread-and-butter line of moth and butterfly brooches! This is the "Swift Moth" which emerges from life underground to a brief flight to mate and die. These are stitched onto non-woven interfacing stabilised between two layers of bridal tulle. The bodies are recycled mink! You can see my inspiration in the background.
Instead of the traditional 'stuffing' of the piece, and sewing the slits shut, with machine embroidery it's much more simple.
I placed about 1/2 inch of batting on the back of the shirt -- used adhesive basting spray. I hooped everything, and let my machine do the work.
The photo doesn't show the 'puff' quite as well as I'd like, but it turned out well. I am pleased.
