I'm adapting an old piece to add to an exhibition which will open in the spring.
This piece is an altered book and is based on The Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland.
I have added a machine embroidered Cheshire Cat to the top of the red and white rose bush
Stitching in the wire spines to the main tail feathers. this will hold the tail in the desired shape - and a jaunty angle!

This afternoon I have been scooting between the sunny workshop deck and the sewing machine working on an order for Dove Cottage, Wordsworth's home.
This shows a part of the order - pocket mirrors stacked up in one of the old wooden seedtrays I use for sorting things
Another in the Tales from the scrap heap series.
Machine embroidered and appliqued.
Using scraps of silk dupion, 1950's cotton dress fabric and contrast threads.
Backing layers of stitched wool felt.
Purple and orange color scheme for this one. It took my embroidery machine over an hour to complete this!! It was the longest one I have designed yet.
This little guy is a cousin to "sleepy owl" he/ or she is just as happy as can be with your little ones. Stitch this fella on a bib, bag, or anything else. Check out the product page at homeberries.com for more project ideas!

I'm really enjoying creating these small portraits which are destined for my workbook.
These are attempts to take a quick sketch from my sketch book, transfer it on to fabric and then cut off the hair in an attempt to change the gender of the image.
This has been only partially successful but I've had fun in the meanwhile
