The maker is Grain and it is made in the UK. I think 1950s. I read online somewhere that it would have cost £3 at the time which was nearly a week's wage for many.

I had thought about ignoring a couple of no trespassing signs and taking a trip into a local quarry, but then I noticed this drilling machine was moving.

The person inside would have spotted me and then I would have had to haul ass outta there.

This photo was taken during the last week of operation of the Asheville Mica Company, established in 1899. Mica dust was a sea of glitter in the air. These old machines remind me of weird Japanimation cartoons like Steamboy.

The world of Steampunk, cogs, wheels machine V man etc etc has me gripped. I have put my mania into creating a couple of 3D pieces of Art for our bedroom.

Gun Metal Grey crackle for the torso and polystyrene head.

Both pieces are full size and the inner core of the torso is also filled with cogs of different sizes.

Working 3D is so much more enjoyable but makes using the room you have precious. You cant just file them in a folder and put them in the cupboard .

I think ill make a lady for Andy next hahahaha.......x
