This photo was taken during the last week of operation of the Asheville Mica Company, established in 1899. Mica dust was a sea of glitter in the air. These old machines remind me of weird Japanimation cartoons like Steamboy.

The maker is Grain and it is made in the UK. I think 1950s. I read online somewhere that it would have cost £3 at the time which was nearly a week's wage for many.

Fitness at Wesley Grand
Wesley Grand has a small, but very well equipped gymn. Many weight machines, treadmills and cycling devices. Through the windows you can see a pool, and off to the side, a hydrotherapy area—treadmills in the water and so on. Not visible is a free weight room, a room for massage and a class room.
I use the gym 3 or 4 times a week, though in this picture, I’m sitting in the easy chair to make sure nothing goes wrong with the camera or the rotator.
It’s best to get to the gym early. I like to start my day with a workout.
A sensational model in the London Science museum. The entire "Shop" is driven by a large steeple type engine at one end. . Lineshafts and belts convay drive to about 75 machines. All of which actually could be used to make tiny metal parts.

Elk jaar organiseert de Stoom Stichting Nederland (SSN) in oktober haar open dagen. Omdat de SSN geen eigen spoorlijn heeft, wordt er gependeld tussen en stoomdepot en Gouda Goverwelle. Dit jaar ben naar ons bijna vaste punt langs de lijn bij Moordrecht gegaan, waar we de treinen voorbij zagen komen. Dit jaar waren naast de 23 023 en 01 1075 van de SSN ook de 23 076 en 50 307 van de VSM weer aanwezig. Mijn oudste zoon stond met zijn Lego treinen op het depot, waar ik met mijn dochter op zondag met de stoomtrein heen reden.
Every year the Dutch Steam Foundation (SSN) organizes its open days in October. Because the SSN does not have its own railway line, it commutes between a steam depot and Gouda Goverwelle. This year we went to our almost favourite spot along the line at Moordrecht, where we saw the trains passing by. This year, in addition to the SSN's 23 023 and 01 1075, the VSM's 23 076 and 50 307 were also present. My eldest son was at the depot with his Lego trains, where my daughter and I would ride the steam train there on Sundays.
Jedes Jahr organisiert die Dutch Steam Foundation (SSN) im Oktober ihre Tage der offenen Tür. Da die SSN über keine eigene Eisenbahnlinie verfügt, pendelt sie zwischen einem Dampfdepot und Gouda Goverwelle. Dieses Jahr besuchte ich unseren fast festen Standort an der Strecke bei Moordrecht, von wo aus wir die Züge vorbeifahren sahen. Neben den SSN-Lokomotiven 23 023 und 01 1075 waren auch die VSM-Lokomotiven 23 076 und 50 307 zu sehen. Mein ältester Sohn war mit seinen Lego-Zügen im Depot, wo meine Tochter und ich sonntags mit der Dampfzug fuhren.
