I got an old sewing machine at goodwill and steamed it up with brassy bits! The propellers spin when the drive wheel and thread move.

View of Doha Skyline from above with several high rise towers being completed lies in the blanket of fog rising off New District of Doha in Qatar on October 20, 2010. Occurrence of fog at twilight time as early as mid October signals approaching winter season in Gulf regions that will last at times almost 7 months.

In the Machine Learning Studio, visitors can use computer vision and machine learning applications to discover how machines learn and perceive their environment. Working with tech trainers, they can build and train self-driving model cars here, program robots with facial recognition, and gain insights into how they can teach these devices a wide variety of activities. Step-by-step, they can experience not only how these technologies function, but also that everything the machines know is determined by us.
The Machine Learning Studio not only offers insights into the hidden inner life of our learning devices—it is also a place where prototypes and objects can be maintained or repaired by the tech trainers, and museum procedures are revealed that are usually kept behind the scenes. The ad of BOSS featuring Tommy Lee Jones on the vending machine.
I really love this ad and its tv-ad version.

My newest machine is called THE PISTON STEPPER. It is a reworking of the idea for my first marble machine. It is made using cherry, maple, yellowheart, and walnut. Each part of the machine is handmade from real wood, cut to fit, tested, and finished for optimal performance.

Enjoy!
i hauled out my old milkshake maker in honour of berry season - i had frozen some of my wild strawberries from a few weeks ago and spent part of the last week picking wild blackberries. the local supermarket had decent blueberries at a good price, so with some vanilla ice cream, milk and maple syrup, the heat has been fought off in style. a minor event also prompted this - the hard work at the gym and on the bike put me under 180 lbs. for the first time in a long while, so a bit of indulgence was due. even my doctor said "ok, you've lost enough weight", words i never expected to hear from him, as he's a thinness fanatic.
the machine - no date, so i'd only be guessing, but it's not a reproduction. it was made by canadian armature works in montreal, a company that formed in 1934 and was then bought by canarm in 1969-1970, so there's a 36 year window. unlike most similar machines, this one is a flat, matte black, a finish i quite like. it is heavy and works perfectly, and i have several of the metal cups (that may or may not have been sold with the unit originally).
Great piece of industrial hardware, the legacy of Navy on-board machine shop, quite old, but in great working condition. Feels like made in WWII times. Acid-etched gear charts are just perfect.
I wonder which was more energy efficient? Have two large motors drive the overhead line shafts to power all the machine tools in this large shop or having multiple motors on every lathe, mill, and shaper?
Besides the obvious safety concerns of having all those open belts flapping around and just waiting to snag you, I wonder which setup uses less electricity.
I always have a strange fascination and interest in gumball machine. I love how rounded and colorful they are.
I took this while waiting in line for our turn to be seated inside the restaurant but it was taking too long and seemed like everyone was either in the middle of their meal or just started so we went to another place.
Earthquake Machine I - The Gillender Building caused a Tsunami in Japan killing about 27,000 people.
