Beelitz-Heilstätten, a district of the town, is home to a large hospital complex of about 60 buildings including a cogeneration plant erected from 1898 on according to plans of architect Heino Schmieden. Originally designed as a sanatorium by the Berlin workers' health insurance corporation, the complex from the beginning of World War I on was a military hospital of the Imperial German Army. During October and November 1916, Adolf Hitler recuperated at Beelitz-Heilstätten after being wounded in the leg at the Battle of the Somme. In 1945, Beelitz-Heilstätten was occupied by Soviet forces, and the complex remained a Soviet military hospital until 1995, well after the German reunification. In December 1990 Erich Honecker was admitted to Beelitz-Heilstätten after being forced to resign as the head of the East German government.
Following the Soviet withdrawal, attempts were made to privatize the complex, but they were not entirely successful. Some sections of the hospital remain in operation as a neurological rehabilitation center and as a center for research and care for victims of Parkinsons disease. The remainder of the complex, including the surgery, the psychiatric ward, and a rifle range, was abandoned in 2000. As of 2007, none of the abandoned hospital buildings or the surrounding area were secured, giving the area the feel of a ghost town. This has made Beelitz-Heilstätten a destination for curious visitors and a film set for movies like The Pianist from 2002 and Valkyrie from 2008.

CT Scanner from Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/ugimw/what_does_a_ct_scann...
From the Comments there: "The upper left corner has the actual X-Ray tube. The lower right is the imager - it's what basically is the digital "film" for the CT scanner. The box in the upper right is probably the motor that makes the whole assembly rotate."

One of my daily occupations at work is cutting paper. For example posters, folders, leaflets, etc. One of the machines we use to do so is a hydraulic cutter.
You can adjust the length of your object with a joystick and a small wheel. With a light-bar behind the knife you can aim at the cutting-line at your object. Then you use a foot controlled pressure bar to pin the object to the table. After that it's "all clear" (the knife is very sharp and it will cut your arm clear of) and you use the two green buttons to make the knife come down.
I'm trying to make some more machines that I work with, one, because it's a challenge and two, as details for a later larger moc.
I hope you like it and please feel free to rate a comment!
Gasthof Ratskeller, Oy-Mittelberg. An old-fashioned cigarette machine in the hallway, alongside the vacuum cleaner and below a pair of teddy bears with hats on. There's something wonderfully naff about the Gasthof Ratskeller, Oy-Mittelberg.
I almost expected this machine to be selling Reval cigarettes, but it seems not, though it does have Gauloises and Lucky Strike.
First sketches and models for the Time Machine, a new interactive art project created by Pataphysical Studios.
In this brainstorm session, each team member sketched out their own ideas, then discussed them with the group, to design our upcoming time travel experience together.
Next, we plan to create a composite design with some of these ideas, to integrate them into a single blueprint.
To be continued ...

Phlip Beesley Workshop October 2015 with CITAstudio
The installation DISSIPATIVE ARCHITECTURES explores the idea of a dynamic responsive architecture. The installation has been constructed during our recent CITAstudio workshop with Philip Beesley.
The opening of the linked exhibition is on Friday 4th at 15.00h in the KADK library: Danneskiold-Samsøes Allé 50 DK 1434 København K.
These Coca-Cola machines were part of a display of miscellaneous objects in a store in New York City. They also sold dentist chairs and old subway signs.
Not my organic design, by the way. The machine is about to Cyprus-kick the organic, the organic is out for wicked stabbings. Though claws don't do much against that kind of armor...
Measure the widest points on the sides, mine measures 15" wide and 7.5" deep at the widest points. So my footprint is 15" x 7.5". You can slide a thin ruler under the bottom to assist you, but remember that some bits stick out further in the middle of the machine as opposed to the base, so look from the top as you're measuring.
Official LEGO Iron Man 3 Minifigure "War Machine".
I know a lot of people were dissapointed that LEGO didn't make an Iron Patriot for the upcoming film, but I am stoked to just finally have Rhodey in LEGO! I really like this War Machine minifig. Although it isn't Iron Patriot, it is still a fantastic fig.
Den has a huge range of talents but quite early on in our relationship she made it quite clear she has no interest or ability when it comes to any kind of needlework. So I am the seamstress in our relationship.
Adopting my normal "how hard can it be" attitude I decided our household needed a sewing machine and I would have to be the one to learn how to use it. I spent hours in my local sewing machine shop enthusiastically assisted by a dear old lady who worked part time in the shop and she patiently taught me everything I needed to know. She suggested this model because it was pretty robust and "man proof". I've probably only used it a handful of times in the 10 years or so that I've owned it but it was just the tool for the job in this case.
